Netflix's Detective Hole series confirms 2026 release date, sets three cast members

Who stars in Netflix's Detective Hole?
Tobias Santelmann (Exit, The Arctic Convoy) and Joel Kinnaman (Altered Carbon, The Suicide Squad) are set to star in Netflix’s upcoming Nordic noir series, Detective Hole, based on Jo Nesbø’s best-selling crime novels.
Santelmann will take on the role of the obsessive yet introverted homicide detective Harry Hole, while Kinnaman will portray Tom Waaler, a corrupt cop and Hole’s long-time nemesis within the Oslo police department. Pia Tjelta (Made in Oslo, State of Happiness) will join them as Rakel Fauke, Harry Hole’s romantic partner.
Following news of his casting, Tobias Santelmann, shared his excitement for the opportunity to portray the iconic detective, he told Netflix:
"I am incredibly grateful for the trust I have been shown in getting to play Harry Hole. I am very much aware of the huge global fan base and the millions of readers who love the character. What will Detective Hole be about?
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the first season of Detective Hole will be based on Jo Nesbø’s fifth Harry Hole novel The Devil’s Star, which sold millions of copies worldwide. Jo Nesbø, author and creator of the series, told Netflix:
"For me, storytelling isn't about serving people what they think they want, but what they didn't know they wanted. We will try to create something fresh, exciting and surprising with respect to the book version of Harry."

What's the latest update?
The latest update has filming for the crime drama commencing on May 23, 2024, with production expected to last between six and nine months before heading into post-production.
While no official release date has been announced yet, the series is anticipated to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2026.
