6 couples get engaged in Love is Blind UK season 1

Love is Blind UK season 1 is now streaming on Netflix! As of Wednesday, Aug. 7, the first four episodes of the series are available to stream. The remaining episodes will be released weekly on Wednesdays on Netflix.

We watched the first four episodes in one sitting, and we're ready to talk about the six couples who get engaged in the pods. Next, those six couples will move on to the next phase of their relationship: surviving vacation with each other and their fellow couples.

Spoilers ahead for the first four episodes of Love is Blind UK season 1!

Freddie and Catherine

Freddie Powell, the 32-year-old funeral director from Manchester, was all-in on Catherine Richards, the 29-year-old from Jersey, from the first conversation. There was instant, undeniable chemistry between Freddie and Catherine. Thankfully, Freddie told Catherine that he wasn't going to "embalm" her, which is usually a good sign in a romantic relationship.

Catherine had another connection with Ollie, but she was feeling much better about Freddie. Plus, Catherine suspected that Ollie and Demi had a better connection. It appears there might be something still there between the pair, but things are looking quite good for Freddie and Catherine, as Catherine pointed out in the fourth episode of the series.

Overall, Freddie and Catherine seem like one of the strongest couples out of the pods. We'll just have to wait and see if they can survive what appears to be their first test when Ollie and Catherine meet face-to-face, which was teased in the trailer at the end of episode 4.

Bobby and Jasmine

After watching the first four episodes, one thing is clear to me: Bobby and Jasmine are the top couple. They're the most likely to stay together through the pods all the way to the altar.

Sure, they're going to have some hiccups, but they have the fewest red flags of any of the couples, in my opinion. From the beginning, Bobby had an immediate connection with Jasmine and vice versa. Jasmine had a little thing with Sam, but her instincts were telling her that he was bad news. Those instincts appear to be right!

Bobby and Jasmine seem like they're off to a great start in Corfu, and we're expecting that to continue throughout that season. I'll be shocked if they break up!

Speaking of Sam, though...

Sam and Nicole

Sam and Nicole were one of the final couples to get engaged in the pods. Sam, who also had a connection with Jasmine before she called things off earlier on in the process, put all his eggs in Nicole's basket.

I'm not going to lie; I was getting bad vibes from Sam from the beginning. And, it sure seems like I was right. Nicole had some concerns about Sam. Initially, it looked like Nicole was going to choose Benaiah, but after a conversation about Benaiah being ready for an engagement, Nicole was more into Sam.

Benaiah tried to warn Nicole that Sam's intentions didn't seem genuine, but Nicole and Sam got engaged anyway.

It's one of the shortest engagements in the history of the show, though. Before leaving for Corfu, Nicole had a change of heart and broke things off with Sam.

When we leave off in episode 4, Nicole is very interested in seeing if Benaiah wants to rekindle their relationship. We'll have to wait and see in the next batch of episodes what he chooses!

Ollie and Demi

In the pods, we saw Ollie and Demi get more vulnerable than many of the other couples. There was a very strong connection between these two early on. Ollie also had a connection with Catherine, but he was ready to break things off with her when Catherine offered to make things easier.

Shortly after, Demi told Ollie about her endometriosis, which could potentially affect her ability to conceive. Ollie reassured her of the love he has for her. It's a great moment, one of the best in the series so far.

Based on the trailer for the next episodes, I'm most concerned for Ollie and Demi. It looks like Ollie, after being confronted about his connection with Catherine, leaves the series. That might not actually happen, but that's what it looks like. We've been misled by Love is Blind trailers in the past, though.

Steven and Sabrina

Outside of Bobby and Jasmine, Steven and Sabrina seem the most likely to make it to the altar and get married. From the jump, Steven, the 37-year-old gym owner, and Sabrina, the 35-year-old marketing professional from Belfast, appeared destined to get engaged. Their worldviews and daily rituals aligned, and from there it was all over! They fell in love and got engaged.

There was a minor blip when Sabrina told Steven that she wasn't certain that having children was something that needed to happen in her life to be happy, but that was resolved rather quickly.

It will be interesting to see if the long-distance aspect of their relationship will be an issue. London and Belfast aren't too far apart, and they'll obviously be together until the altar. I like their chances, though!

Tom and Maria

Tom and Maria also seem like they have a good chance of making it to the altar and getting married. Maria told Tom about halfway through their time in the pods that he was her No. 1 pick. Tom, though, wasn't able to commit at that point in time because he had a strong connection with Natasha.

Shortly after, Tom told Natasha that he was more interested in Maria. Since then, it's been smooth sailing for Tom and Maria.

Based on what we've seen of them in Corfu, they seem really into each other! They both made comments about how natural it feels to be around each other. Obviously, that's a positive sign in a romantic relationship, and even more so when you're engaged to someone.

Will they last? Well, that's what we're going to watch!

The next five episodes of Love is Blind UK season 1 arrive on Wednesday, Aug. 14. The final two episodes will be released on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
