It's a new year and I'm sure you're just like us and are looking forward to all the new Netflix shows and movies slated to come out this year. But what's good to watch now in January?
Well, you have new series like Fool Me Once, The Brothers Sun and Griselda. There are also some new movies like Kevin Hart's Lift, the dystopian drama The Kitchen and the heartfelt drama film Good Grief.
But what we really recommend adding to your watchlist this month is all the new Korean shows coming out. Here's a short list of four new Korean shows on Netflix this January that you absolutely must watch.
The Bequeathed
- Release date: Jan. 19, 2024
- Cast: Kim Hyun-joo, Park Hee-soon, Park Byung-eun, Ryu Kyung-soo
Created by Yeon Sang-ho whose known for directing Train to Busan and Hellbound, The Bequeathed is an upcoming mystery thriller series centering around a young woman who inherits a burial ground upon the sudden death of her uncle only to soon find herself entangled in some strange incidents.
Doctor Slump
- Release date: Premiere on Jan. 27, 2024 with new episodes every Saturday and Sunday
- Cast: Park Shin-hye, Park Hyung-sik, Yoon Park, Kong Seong-ha
Doctor Slump tells the love story of a plastic surgeon and an anesthesiologist. Nam Ha-neul and Yeo Jeong-woo were once academic prodigies, but now they're going through a slump in their work lives. But what they weren't expecting was to eventually fall in love after running into each other at the lowest points of their lives.
Gyeongseong Creature Part 2
- Release date: Jan. 5, 2024 with the remaining three episodes
- Cast: Park Seo-jun, Han So-hee, Kim Su-hyun, Kim Hae-sook, Jo Han-chul
Get ready to binge-watch the remaining three episodes (episodes 8-10) of Gyeongseong Creature in its second and last part, dropping on Netflix on Jan. 5! The horror series is set in the spring of 1945 when Korea was under Japanese colonial rule. The story takes place at the mysterious Ongseong Hospital in Gyeongseong, where two young adults battle against strange creatures born from greed as they fight for survival.
Queen of Divorce/Great Problem Solver
- Expected but not confirmed release date: Jan. 31, 2024 with new episodes released every Wednesday and Thursday
- Cast: Lee Ji-ah, Kang Ki-young, Oh Min-seok, Kim Sun-young
The upcoming Korean series centers around a top divorce mediator who helps those that have been wronged in their marriages by punishing the bad and disloyal spouses and providing a solution. Lee Ji-ah, whose known for recently starring in the Korean series Pandora: Beneath the Paradise, plays the role of Kim Sa-ra, the top divorce mediator. In addition, Extraordinary Attorney Woo star Kang Ki-young portrays the role of Dong Ki-joon, a lawyer and Kim Sa-ra's business partner.
