Besties Matt Damon and Ben Affleck reteam for kidnapping thriller Animals on Netflix
Longtime friends and collaborators Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are back in business together and this time for a new Netflix film titled Animals.
If you didn't know, Damon and Affleck have been friends since they were kids, growing up in the same city of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Since 1989, they've appeared in nine films together such as Field of Dreams, School Ties, Good Will Hunting, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, The Last Duel and Air.
The duo's most recent project together was the biographical sports drama film Air. While both actors starred in the movie, Affleck also had directing duties. In fact, this was Affleck's first time directing Damon. Now, with their new movie Animals, Affleck will be seated once again in the director's chair while Damon is set to star.
Animals is being described as a crime thriller. Connor McIntyre wrote the movie's original script with Billy Ray making script revisions. It's about a mayoral candidate and his wife, who after finding out that their son has been kidnapped, must do everything in their power to save him.
Besides Damon's casting, no other casting details have been revealed yet. It's also unclear who Damon will be playing in the movie. But our guess is that he'll be portraying the mayoral candidate.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, production on the film could start in Los Angeles by March, but this is only if everything can get squared away. It's also been reported that Affleck and Damon will produce through their artist-led studio, Artists Equity, along with the company's president Dani Bernfeld. Additionally, Brad Weston and Collin Creighton will be producing through their MakeReady banner, and the production company Fifth Season will be producing as well.
That's all we know so far about Animals. But we'll make sure to constantly update this space with new information about the film as it's announced/released.
