Queen Charlotte is easily one of my top 5 Netflix original shows of the year. I'm a huge fan of Shonda Rhimes, so I pretty much watch anything she puts out or is attached to. With no new season of Bridgerton this year, we needed something to fill in the void, and Queen Charlotte did just that.

It serves as a prequel series to the smash-hit period drama Bridgerton. The story centers around a young Queen Charlotte’s ascent to power and life-changing marriage to King George III. We also learn the origin stories of two other Bridgerton characters, Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.

This show introduced us to newcomers India Amarteifio and Corey Mylchreest, who instantly became two of the best breakout Netflix stars of 2023. In fact, one of the main reasons Queen Charlotte was so good was because of the outstanding performances India and Corey both gave throughout the entire six-episode season. They have such strong chemistry which made them playing a couple much more believable.

The supporting cast was amazing as well like Arsema Thomas (young Lady Danbury), Michelle Fairley (Augusta), Freddie Dennis (Reynolds), and Sam Clemmett (young Brimsley). Although it sucks that Queen Charlotte is a limited series, we're glad that it happened. Now, more than ever, we're looking forward to seeing the highly anticipated Bridgerton season 3.
