Lockwood and Co. premiered on Netflix on Jan. 27, and it looked like this show had a bright future on Netflix for a long time. Lockwood and Co. is based on the book series of the same name by Jonathan Stroud. We know Netflix is looking for more shows and movies in the YA space, and Lockwood and Co. was a perfect match. 

Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman, and Ali Hadji-Heshmati star in the Netflix series, which tells the story of a group of kids who start an investigative agency as ghost hunters, basically. Together, they work together and harness their abilities to try to stop ghosts from hurting and killing other humans. It’s a great premise, and the eight-episode first season of the series is executed well. It’s just a shame it wasn’t watched as much as it should have been.

Unfortunately, Lockwood and Co. never caught on with Netflix’s audience. The series was canceled after one season in 2023 due to low viewership, most likely. Although the series was set up for another season, multiple seasons even, it’s not going to happen. It’s such a bummer we won’t see the end of this series. It was quality through and through, in my opinion, with terrific writing, performances, and effects.
