The Diplomat

The Diplomat is a new political thriller series on Netflix and it is one of the smartest and best-written Netflix Originals produced in years. Created by Debora Cahn, The Diplomat stars The Americans' Keri Russell (who has received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress for her work on the show) and Rufus Sewell in the lead roles of Kate Wyler, the newly appointed US ambassador to the UK, and the former US ambassador to Lebanon, Hal Wyler.

Kate finds herself a fish out of water when she arrives in the United Kingdom and immediately has to manage tensions, create strategic alliances, and do whatever it takes to avoid an international crisis all while balancing her struggling marriage to Hal, who is often working on his own political agenda from the sidelines.

The Diplomat is a fast-paced series with a lot of dialogue that is propelled by the actors' excellent performances and fantastic chemistry working off of one another. With tight plotting and a great script, The Diplomat moves along at a brisk pace and received high praise when it arrived on Netflix in the first half of the year. The series was quickly renewed for another season and we cannot wait to see what's going to happen next after the shocking end to the season.
