Unfortunately, it's time to say goodbye to a few movies leaving Netflix in August 2024, including The Edge of Seventeen starring Hailee Steinfeld.

At the end of every month, there are usually a handful of movies that leave Netflix and head to a different streaming service or cable network. In August, there are more than a few movies that I think people will be especially bummed are leaving Netflix.

We shared a list of six good movies leaving Netflix in August, including an action movie from a man who is probably really going through it right now, Ben Affleck.

The Accountant

Leaving Netflix: Monday, Aug. 26

You have less time to watch The Accountant than any of the other movies on the list! The Accountant starring Ben Affleck leaves Netflix on Monday, Aug. 26, so you have to watch the movie this week.

The Accountant tells the story of an -- you guessed it! -- accountant who works with criminal organizations to bring their business practices up to certain standards. Affleck stars as said accountant, Christian, who begins working with a mysterious company hiding a major secret.

If you still haven't seen this movie, I highly recommend it! It's a solid story with an awesome cast. Anna Kendrick, J. K. Simmons, John Lithgow, Jeffrey Tambor, and Jon Bernthal star in the film along with Affleck.

The Edge of Seventeen

Leaving Netflix: Aug. 31

Hey, I don't want to take up a ton of your time, but The Edge of Seventeen is leaving Netflix at the end of the month and you probably should watch it before it leaves. This is one of my favorite teen movies of the last decade, and it's always popping up and leaving Netflix shortly after.

Hailee Steinfeld stars in the movie as Nadine, a teenager having difficulty adjusting to the expectations, lifestyle, and uncomfortable parts of high school, being a kid, dealing with trauma, and more. Things take a turn when Nadine finds out that her best friend is now romantically interested in her brother. Seemingly alone, Nadine struggles to find her way.

Woody Harrelson, Haley Lu Richardson, Blake Jenner, Hayden Szeto, and Krya Sedgwick star in the film alongside Steinfeld.

Pineapple Express

Leaving Netflix: Aug. 31

This will come as a surprise to absolutely no one, but Pineapple Express is one of all-time favorite movies. I know there's something wrong with me, but you're running out of time to watch the great comedy from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg on Netflix before it leaves at the end of the month.

Pineapple Express tells the story of Dale Denton, played by Rogen, who delivers subpoenas for a living. While trying to serve a subpoena, Dale witnesses a murder, involving a police officer. Dale and his drug dealer, Sal, played by James Franco, are forced to go on the run after getting caught up in a drug war between marijuana distributors in California.

Spider-Man

Leaving Netflix: Aug. 31

Spider-Man starring Tobey Maguire and directed by Sam Raimi is leaving Netflix at the end of the month. If you want to see Peter Parker go up against the Green Goblin to save New York City, you're running out of time. The movie's last day on Netflix is Aug. 31.

And, we have some more bad news for Spider-Man fans. In addition to Spider-Man leaving Netflix, the rest of the Spider-Man movies are leaving Netflix on that day, as well. Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 leave Netflix on Aug. 31, but The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man are also leaving that day.

In September, the only Spider-Man movie left on Netflix will be Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which is awesome. But, it's still a bummer that the great Spider-Man exodus commences so soon.

Burn After Reading

Leaving Netflix: Aug. 31

If you're a fan of the Coen brothers, we have some bad news! Burn After Reading is leaving Netflix on Aug. 31. I believe is the only Coen brothers movie on Netflix right now (aside from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, which is a Netflix original movie).

Burn After Reading stars MOVIE STAR George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, and Richard Jenkins. The film, written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, was released in theaters in 2008. Burn After Reading tells the story of two people who work at a gym. When they find what they think are leaked government documents from the CIA, they try make the most of the situation. Does it go well? You'll have to see for yourself!

Beverly Hills Cop

Leaving Netflix: Sept. 3

You're running out of time to watch the Beverly Hills Cop franchise on Netflix! Beverly Hills Cop is leaving Netflix on Sept. 3. It's not August, but it's close enough that I thought it was important enough to include on the list.

Beverly Hills Cop follows Axel Foley, played by Eddie Murphy, as he tries to solve a murder in Beverly Hills. Netflix just released the fourth Beverly Hills Cop movie, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, in July 2024. You can currently watch all four Beverly Hills Cop movies on Netflix right now, but not for long.

Beverly Hills Cop II is leaving Netflix on Sept. 3, as well.

So, that's the list of good movies to watch before they leave Netflix! You only have one week, so you better make the most of it!
