The Accountant 2: What's the latest update?

After years of development, back in September 2021, director Gavin O'Connor announced during an interview with ReelBlend that Warner Bros. Pictures (the studio behind the original 2016 film) had officially given the green light to a sequel to The Accountant. Now, fast forward to 2024, and it seems the gears are finally turning!

According to reports, The Accountant 2 is currently in pre-production, with principal photography kicking off in March 2024. The film is being brought to life by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon's production company Artists Equity, and will be distributed by Amazon MGM Studios.

While specific plot details are still under wraps, a synopsis for the highly anticipated film has surfaced ahead of its release. As per Cinema Blend, it reads:

"When her former boss is killed by unknown assassins, Treasury Agent Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) is forced to contact Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) to solve the murder. With the help of his estranged but highly lethal brother Brax (Jon Bernthal), Chris applies his brilliant mind and less-than-legal methods to piece together the unsolved puzzle. While the full cast list has yet to be revealed, there are a few actors who have already been confirmed for the sequel. According to reports, the confirmed cast members for The Accountant 2 are:

When is The Accountant 2 out?

Unfortunately as of April 1, 2024, The Accountant 2 does not have an official release date. That being said, the movie is expected to come out sometime in mid-to-late 2025, or even later. This is because a major film like this typically takes around 18 months for production and post-production to be completed.
