Fourth of July is right around the corner, and luckily, Netflix has just what we need when it comes to shows to watch on that day. We're talking about Barbecue Showdown, which will be returning with its eight-episode third season on July 4. And guess what? We have even better news to share. It looks like the hit food competition reality series will also be returning with a fourth season in the future. More on this below.

Barbecue Showdown is a Netflix original series from Maverick Television and All3Media America. It premiered its first season back in September 2020, followed by its second season in May 2023. The reality show follows some of the country's best barbecuers as they compete in a barbecue cook-off for the title of American Barbecue Champion and the grand prize of $50,000. Each episode sees the contestants taking on a challenge that will test their barbecue skills while also creating the best meals possible.

Season 1 was hosted by Rutledge Wood and Lyric Lewis, with judging duties falling on world-class BBQ legends Kevin Bludso and Melissa Cookston. Season 2 saw the exit of Wood and Lewis as hosts, with actress and comedian Michelle Buteau taking over hosting duties. In the upcoming Barbecue Showdown season 3, Buteau returns to host with Bludso and Cookston back as judges. However, unlike seasons 1 and 2, which each had eight contestants competing, there will be nine contestants in the third season. Once again, we'll see these contestants vying for the same title and a $50,000 grand prize.

Those contestants are Gerald Vinnett Jr., Kareem El-Ghayesh, Kent Rollins, Luis Rivera, Melissa Pappas, Shaticka Robinson, Sloan Rinaldi, Staci Graves Jett, and Tung Nguyen.

We can expect the same setup in a potential Barbecue Showdown season 4. We say potential because Netflix hasn't officially announced a fourth season. However, it appears to be secretly in the works. We believe a Barbecue Showdown season 4 is happening because a casting call looking for contestants for future seasons recently went up on Instagram. Check it out below.

It looks like the producers are still casting for a potential fourth season, so if you have what it takes and are ready to show off your barbecue skills, you should definitely apply. However, keep in mind that you have to be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old to apply.

Stay tuned to Netflix Life for any new updates on a potential Barbecue Showdown season 4!
