It's almost time for another new Jennifer Lopez movie to hit Netflix! The multi-talented superstar's latest film, the sci-fi action thriller Atlas, makes its premiere on Friday, May 24, and it's the Golden Globe-nominated actress' return to high-concept action movies after the success of her 2023 action-thriller The Mother on Netflix.

In Atlas, Lopez stars as the title character Atlas Shepherd, who's a brilliant data analyst with little trust in artificial intelligence. However, when she boards a mission gone wrong to collect a robot that's rebelling, she must go against her instincts and rely on the one thing she doesn't trust to help save humanity.

I don't know about you, but I would trust J.Lo with my life. You can find out if she's able to save the world as Atlas Shepherd when the movie makes its premiere on Netflix at midnight PDT on Friday, May 24. Those on the East Coast of the United States will have to stay up until 3 a.m. to start watching, or just wait to check out the movie over Memorial Day weekend.

Simu Liu and Sterling K. Brown also star in the movie with Lopez, who shared with People during the movie's premiere how she relates to her character. Specifically, Lopez mentioned that both she and Atlas have strength and confidence, though they have each been misunderstood when expressing themselves. As she told the magazine:

"We are so different because she's like... doesn't wear any of her emotions. She's so closed off and I am too much emotion sometimes. But at the same time, we are both very strong and sure of what they feel. At times. She was very sure. She was like, 'This is what's happening, please listen to me. Please tell me.' And felt very misunderstood at times. I can also relate to that a bit."

Of course, the theme of being misunderstood likely continues for the artist, as reports and rumors about her personal life continue to overshadow her work just like they have for the past two decades of being in the spotlight. But Atlas finds Lopez as a strong character in charge of her own destiny as well as that of the world. It's a job she's more than up for as a commanding performer.
