Anna Kendrick's Woman of the Hour clocks October release: Everything to know

Anna Kendrick's Woman of the Hour is coming to Netflix just in time for Halloween! After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September 2023, Netflix reacquired distribution rights to the film shortly after. Now, an official Netflix release date has been set, and it's for Friday, Oct. 18, 2024. You can expect the film to drop at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET on this date.

Woman of the Hour is an upcoming period crime thriller film directed by Academy nominee Anna Kendrick from a screenplay written by Ian MacAllister McDonald. Known for starring in movies like the Pitch Perfect trilogy and The Twilight Saga, Kendrick makes her directorial debut with this film.

She also stars in the leading role of Cheryl Bradshaw. Woman of the Hour is based on the true story of real-life serial killer Rodney Alcala's 1978 appearance on the popular game show The Dating Game. While appearing as a contestant on an episode of the show, Alcala was in the midst of a yearslong killing spree. He ends up winning a date with bachelorette and aspiring actress Cheryl Bradshaw. The crime thriller revolves around the crossing of paths between him and her.

Daniel Zovatto stars as infamous serial killer Rodney Alcala in the film. You might recognize him from the horror movies Beneath, It Follows, Don't Breathe and The Pope's Exorcist. He also had roles in the TV shows Revenge, Fear the Walking Dead, Here and Now, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels and Station Eleven. Joining him and Kendrick in the cast are Nicolette Robinson as Laura, Tony Hale, Kathryn Gallagher, Kelley Jakle, and Autumn Best.
