All the details you need on the upcoming Wednesday DVD and Blu-ray release
By Mads Lennon
Get ready to be spooky and kooky in the comfort of your own home even if you don't have a current Netflix subscription! That's right, the first season of Netflix's Emmy-nominated series Wednesday is coming to physical media on March 26, 2024. Soon you'll be able to buy a DVD or Blu-ray version of the show and enjoy all eight episodes whenever you want.
It's always a big deal when a Netflix show gets a physical release date because streamers are still weird about how to handle putting their shows out there in a way that allows people access sans subbing to their service. Previous Netflix shows that received physical releases include the first two seasons of Stranger Things, Orange is the New Black, and a few others.
But more often than not, the release is due to a production company Netflix is partnered with rather than the service making the executive decision. As is the case with Wednesday, which is getting released physically by Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. Something similar happened with Mike Flanagan's The Haunting series, which received DVD/Blu-ray releases because Paramount wanted it to happen.
Pre-order Wednesday on DVD or Blu-ray today
Hailing from creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, along with fabled director Tim Burton, Wednesday became a huge success for Netflix when season 1 debuted in 2022. Starting on March 26, 2024, the first season will be available to purchase both online and in-store from major retailers. But if you don't want to wait until then, you can pre-order your copy right now from websites like Amazon and wherever you buy your DVDs.
Prices & other details
- DVD: $24.98 ($29.98 in Canada)
- Blu-ray: $29.98 SRP ($39.99 in Canada)
- Audio & Subtitles: English, Spanish French
- Runtime: 480 minutes
- Rated: TV-14
Despite the above suggested retail price, if you go to the aforementioned link to Amazon, you can pre-order both for just $19.99 and you get a preorder price guarantee so if the cost goes up between now and March 26, you'll still be locked into the lower price.
The only downside right now is that it doesn't look like the physical release will include any special features or extras. At least, none were showcased in the official press release.
