In an extreme era of change for The CW network, All American has officially become the last show standing. With both its spinoff All American: Homecoming and Superman & Lois set to sign-off with their final seasons this fall, the football drama was the network's sole pre-Nexstar show to land a renewal. That's right, All American season 7 is happening!

The CW announced the show's renewal on June 3, many weeks ahead of the season 6 finale on July 15. While also continuing to pull off stable ratings, the series has become a proven hit on Netflix throughout its run. Season 6 dropped on the streamer one week after its televised finale and touched down on the daily top 10, so far peaking at No. 3 behind Cobra Kai (as of this writing).

But the upcoming seventh season won't be without its changes. Even though the episode count for season 6 dropped to 15 episodes due to the strikes, season 7 will have the show's smallest order yet with 13 episodes. In addition to featuring fewer episodes than any past season, All American season 7 will also be the first of the series without star Daniel Ezra as a series regular.

All American season 7 coming in 2025

If you're super sad that Ezra won't be around in season 7 anymore as his beloved character Spencer James, Variety reports that The CW insists Ezra will still be an "integral part" of the series moving forward, though in a guest star capacity. In the same Variety article about Ezra's exit from the series, All American showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll even teased he would be part of the family "in front of and behind the camera" for the next chapter.

The major cast change and potential refocusing of the series doesn't come as a huge shock, especially given the events of season 6. (No spoilers!) A previous report from April 2024 on the veteran show's future suggested that a seventh season will likely see the show open up to a new generation and include many new faces added to the cast. Before the next season makes its premiere, there's sure to be a lot of announcements made on that front.

While The CW does kick off a new fall season beginning in September and through November, All American won't be one of the shows on the network's lineup just yet. Season 7 has been confirmed to make its premiere back on the network's schedule in 2025. As of July 2024, The CW has not yet specified exactly when in 2025 season 7 will premiere, whether it's at the top of the new year in January, sometime in spring, or even later. If we had to predict, early 2025 would be our bet.

Along with the show's 13 episodes airing on The CW, the seventh season will also make its way to Netflix sometime in 2025, too. We know that new seasons of the series drop on Netflix eight days after their televised finales, as season 6 dropped on July 23, exactly eight days after the July 15 finale. It's too soon to provide a Netflix release month, but once The CW announces the official premiere date, we can make a clearer prediction on a Netflix release window in 2025.
