Aaron Eckhart and Nina Dobrev lead the cast of action movie The Bricklayer

Netflix recently released the action-thriller flick The Bricklayer, and it's one of the top movies on the streaming platform at the moment. If you're looking for something to watch that'll have you at the edge of your seat throughout, you absolutely must check out this film. It's full of action, so you'll be thoroughly entertained. It also stars many well-known actors.

The Bricklayer was initially released in U.S. theaters back in January 2024 by Vertical Entertainment. Finnish film director Renny Harlin helmed the action movie from a screenplay co-written by Hanna Weg and Matt Johnson. The film's title might sound familiar to you, and that's because it's based on the 2010 book of the same name by Noah Boyd.

It follows a hardened former CIA operative named Steve Vail, who after leaving his life behind as an agent to live a more quieter life as a bricklayer, finds himself coaxed out of retirement to help stop a plot to blackmail the CIA.

Golden Globe-nominated actor Aaron Eckhart stars in the leading role of former CIA agent, Steve Vail. Steve just wants to live a normal life, but after finding out from the CIA that a rogue CIA operative is killing foreign journalists, he reluctantly returns to work and takes on the case.

Aaron is best known for starring as Harvey Dent/Two-Face in the 2008 superhero film The Dark Knight. Some of his other acting work includes roles in the movies Erin Brockovich, Thank You for Smoking, Love Happens, Battle: Los Angeles and Olympus Has Fallen. He also played the role of President Gerald Ford in the anthology drama series The First Lady.

Besides The Vampire Diaries, you might recognize Nina from her role as Mia Jones in the popular Canadian teen series Degrassi: The Next Generation. Some of her other acting work includes roles in the films The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Let's Be Cops, Flatliners, XXX: Return of Xander Cage, Love Hard and The Out-Laws. She also starred as Clem in the short-lived TV sitcom Fam.
