6 comedy horror movies like Bodies Bodies Bodies to watch on Netflix
By Renee Hansen
Fans of the comedy horror Bodies Bodies Bodies will be disappointed to learn that the movie will leave Netflix on Sept. 19, 2024. But the good news is that a long list of horror comedies is available on the streaming service to fill the void. And don't miss this year's Netflix & Chills lineup.
Bodies Bodies Bodies and other horror comedies are a unique subgenre of horror that mixes slasher elements with absurd comedic ones. Mixing comedy with horror is nothing new, as Edgar Allan Poe and other writers often combined the two in their works.
Bride of Chucky
Bride of Chucky is the fourth installment of the Child's Play franchise, written by creator Don Mancini and directed by Ronny Yu, also known for Freddy vs. Jason (2003). Brad Dourif returns as the voice of Chucky, with Jennifer Tilly portraying Tiffany Valentine, a role she would reprise in several other installments of the franchise. Additional cast includes John Ritter, Katherine Heigl, and Nick Stabile.
This movie marked a shift in the franchise when it infused the story with humorous self-referential parody. Bride of Chucky also included the addition of humor in the violent scenes to diffuse the macabre visuals. Tiffany, the girlfriend of serial killer Charles Lee Ray, resurrects the doll that Ray's soul last inhabited, dreaming of spending their lives together. Things go south, and Chucky sends her soul into a doll so she can experience the same torment he has for all these years. It is a fun addition to the series of movies and is considered the best Child's Play movie by many.
Also streaming on Netflix: Child's Play 2 (1990), Child's Play 3 (1991), Seed of Chucky (2004), Curse of Chucky (2013), and Cult of Chucky (2017).
Zombieland
Zombieland follows nerdy college student Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), who, because he is afraid of everything, follows a specific set of rules to survive the apocalypse. When he encounters Twinkie-loving Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), who is fearless, the pair embark on a journey as they try to survive, realizing each other's company may be worse than the undead who want to eat them. Along their journey they meet up with sisters Wichita (Emma Stone), and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) who have made their living conning others, before and after the outbreak. Together, they try to find the dreamland free of the undead. Zombieland is a hilarious entry in the comedy horror genre with plenty of gore to satisfy seasoned horror fans.

Girls with Balls
The French-Belgian comedy horror Girls With Balls is a story that follows a group of volleyballers who end up in a fight for their lives. Directed by Olivier Afonso, who co-wrote the movie with Jean-Luc Cano, the gory, goofy slasher is a fun break from horror that takes itself too seriously. The story follows a volleyball team and their coach, who find themselves in unfamiliar territory when their RV breaks down. Then, they begin to fight against a group of degenerate hunters in this cheese fest of a movie that is highly entertaining. The key to enjoying this one: Don't take it too seriously.

Vampires, Oscar winning Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg... Day Shift has it all. This movie is J.J. Perry's directorial debut that is written by Tyler Tice and Shay Hatten and follows Foxx's Bud Jablonski, pool cleaner by day, vampire hunter by night. Bud is a member of an international Union of Vampire hunters and uses the money he makes to create a better life for his daughter. The movie is filled with old fashioned gore and lots of laughs. Also starring Dave Franco, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Meagan Good, Karla Souza, Steve Howey, and Scott Adkins.
