A new week means new releases on Netflix including season 8 of Queer Eye and the Sofía Vergara led Griselda. Below, we have a list of some great scary movies geared towards the younger ages but are enjoyed by adults as well.
The stream has a great list of horror in the "teen scream" genre, including originals like There's Someone Inside Your House, The Babysitter and its sequel Killer Queen, and Black Christmas. There are also comedy horrors geared towards tweens and teens, like The Curse of Bridge Hallow, We Have a Ghost, Hubie Halloween, and Vampire vs. The Bronx.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
One new release in January 2024 on Netflix is Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. This movie is a supernatural horror directed by André Øvredal (The Last Voyage of Demeter) based on Alvin Schwartz's book series with a screen story by Guillermo del Toro, who also produces. The story follows a group of teenagers out trick or treating on Halloween in 1968. They are then chased by bullies and find themselves taking refuge in the local haunted house. While there, they experience scary stories that play themselves out right before their eyes.
Fear Street trilogy
The Fear Street trilogy of movies are each set in a different year, the first in 1994, the second in 1978, and the final in 1666. Based on R.L. Stein's same-titled book series, the movies are an amazing journey of a group of teens who attempt to break the curse that has held their town for hundreds of years.
Nightbooks
Based on the children's horror-fantasy book by J. A. White, Nightbooks, the movie follows a young boy, Alex, who is a huge fan of scary stories. He becomes trapped inside a magical apartment of Natacha, a witch who captures children, where he discovers a young girl who has also been trapped. He must tell a new spine-tingling story each night, or they will become trapped forever.
Goosebumps
The 2015 movie Goosebumps is based on R.L. Stine's same-titled children's horror book series. Starring Jack Black as a fictional version of Stine, who, along with the help of his daughter and neighbor, work together to save their town from the monsters who have escaped from his books. Be sure to watch before the movie leaves the streamer on Feb. 10.
Erax
Although not a feature-length film, Erax is a fun, spooky short that focuses on the wild evening of mayhem had by Auntie Opal (Jasmin Cephas Jones) and her niece Nina (Geneiss White) when they discover a magical storybook. Be sure to continue to the end, where some great BTS footage is shown.
