3 Body Problem renewed for season 2 on Netflix

We have some great news of fans of 3 Body Problem! Netflix just announced 3 Body Problem season 2 during the streamer's upfronts presentation on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

It's definitely not surprising that 3 Body Problem season 2 is happening at Netflix. There's so much more to the story, and this show has been one of the most popular Netflix shows since it premiered on March 21, 2024.

Netflix also shared a teaser to announce the season 2 renewal. The teaser ends with the epic line, "They're real, and they're coming!" If that doesn't get you hyped for season 2, I don't know what will!

3 Body Problem is based on The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin. There are three books in the series, which is known as the Remembrance of Earth's Past series. While it's hard to track exactly what Netflix has planned, I'd be shocked if this is the final season of the series. It was really popular on Netflix. Although it's not cracking the Netflix Top 10, all time, it's still a high-profile series that Netflix will want to continue to invest in. I'd bet we'll get at least three seasons.

David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo developed the Netflix series. They're continuing to work on the show for season 2. They shared a statement that Netflix tweeted along with "The Story Continues" teaser that you can find above.

Benedict Wong, Jovan Adepo, Rosalind Chao, John Bradley, Liam Cunningham, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Alex Sharp, Marlo Kelly, Sea Shimooka, Zine Tseng, Saamer Usmani, and Jonathan Pryce starred in the show's first season. We're expecting most will return for season 2. We're also expecting to see new cast members added for season 2, as well.

It's unclear when production will begin on season 2. We have a feeling it's going to be quite a long time until we see new episdoes of 3 Body Problem on Netflix.

There's a lot we don't know right now, including the episode counts, additional seasons, and where the story will go. None of that was discussed during the presentation. We'll share more information about the new episodes when we find out.
