Netflix has been slacking this year when it comes to adding good horror content to its platform, and it's really frustrating. The streaming giant's most recent horror addition was M3GAN 2.0, and true horror fans know that one title alone just doesn’t cut it. We need something more chilling and unsettling.

Luckily, our wishes are about to come true very soon. Netflix has unveiled its February 2026 lineup, and you won't believe what horror flick is heading to the platform next month. It's only one of Blumhouse’s best horror movies ever made!

The Black Phone is coming to Netflix in February 2026

No, you did not read that wrong. The Black Phone is really set for a February 2026 release on Netflix. The exact release date is Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026. Although not confirmed, there's a chance the movie could drop on Netflix at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET on its release date. That's when new content is usually released on the platform. But again, this release time has not been confirmed.

So, what makes The Black Phone such a big deal, and why should horror fans be losing their minds over this Netflix release? Let’s break it down.

The Black Phone is a supernatural horror film co-produced by Blumhouse Productions and Crooked Highway. Scott Derrickson, the same guy who brought us Sinister and Doctor Strange, helmed the movie as well as co-wrote the script with C. Robert Cargill. The story is based on a short story by Joe Hill, Stephen King’s son, so you already know it’s going to be dark and twisted.

The Black Phone takes place in the late 1970s in a quiet Denver suburb, which sounds safe until you realize it’s the hunting ground of a terrifying masked killer known only as The Grabber. This guy abducts kids and keeps them in a soundproof basement, which is honestly nightmare fuel just by itself. Enter our protagonist, Finney Blake. Finney is a timid yet smart 13-year-old boy who, unfortunately, finds himself becoming The Grabber’s latest victim.

Once Finney wakes up in that creepy basement, things get seriously tense. There’s barely any furniture, no windows, and the only thing on the wall is a disconnected black rotary phone. But here’s the twist. The phone starts ringing, and when Finney picks up, it’s not The Grabber on the line. It’s the ghosts of the killer’s previous victims who give him tips to try to help him survive.

Then, you have Finney's younger sister, Gwen, who isn’t just sitting around waiting for help. She starts having these creepy, vivid visions that hint at what’s happening to her brother, and she becomes determined to do something about it. You’re basically on a constant edge-of-your-seat rollercoaster throughout the movie, wondering if Finney will escape and if Gwen’s visions will actually save him.

Of course, The Black Phone wouldn’t be half as chilling without its talented cast bringing the movie to life. Leading the film is Mason Thames as Finney Blake. Then, there’s Madeleine McGraw as Gwen. And of course, we can’t forget the man behind the mask: Ethan Hawke as The Grabber. The rest of the cast includes Jeremy Davies, James Ransone, E. Roger Mitchell, Brady Hepner, and others.

There's also a sequel titled The Black Phone 2. However, this supernatural horror film is not available to stream on Netflix. Additionally, it will not be released on the platform with the first movie. The only place that you can currently stream the sequel is Peacock. You also have the option to rent or purchase it via digital platforms.

However, there's a chance The Black Phone 2 will come to Netflix in the future. Don't worry. We'll get back to you and let you know if this ever happens!
