One minute is all it took to get us hooked. Netflix's latest R.L. Stine flick is set for release this weekend, and you know you will want to watch. Fear Street: Prom Queen is the fourth installment of the Fear Street franchise and might be the scariest. That is based on the one minute of footage the streaming giant gave us.
Fear Street: Prom Queen takes place in 1988 and follows the ongoings of who will be prom queen in Shadyside. The IT Girls think they have the situation under control, but then an outsider is nominated for queen and all heck starts breaking loose.
The IT Girls start disappearing, which might make us think the outsider is behind it. But why be so obvious? Surely, that is not the case.
One minute of Fear Street: Prom Queen is enough to make you watch (and be fearful)
The great thing about the one-minute tease is that the presumed killer looks like he might also be Front Man from Squid Game. He has a spooky, though non-aggressive, mask, and he is patient before he acts. How amazing would it be if Netflix created a Fear Street and Squid Game crossover? Anything is possible, surely.
But nay. Let us proceed with the presumption that Netflix has not combined two of its best franchises into one. Or maybe Fear Street: Prom Queen is actually the last season of Squid Game or a prelude to it. Again, no. Let us put this thought away.
One thing is sure. The new Fear Street installment is going to be scary and creepy. The pacing seems perfect, and we have to sit on our hands before the violence potentially begins. Will it happen at all? We do not know. Let's hope everyone is okay (but they won't be).
