Even though we're all getting into the holiday spirit and watching Christmas movies, The Hustle starring Anne Hathaway is the perfect movie for a non-holiday laugh on Netflix right now.

Netflix just added a long list of thrilling new movies from Warner Bros. and other studios, including Babylon, House of Gucci, The Northman, Mean Girls (the original and the musical remake), and more must-watch movies. Everyone always loves to see new movies added to the streaming service, so it's no surprise that the hidden Hathaway gem has found an instant audience.

The Hustle also stars Rebel Wilson and was added to Netflix on Dec. 12, and shortly after arriving on Netflix, the comedy film made its way up the Top 10 most popular movies ranking. As of Dec. 17, the movie has reached the No. 4 position, beating out one of the latest Netflix Christmas movies.

Hathaway and Wilson's comedy team-up was released in theaters back in May 2019 and acts as a modern remake of the 1988 favorite Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. The Hustle stars Hathaway as British con artist Josephine Chesterfield and Wilson as Australian con artist Penny Rust. Together, the unexpected pair attempt to swindle tech billionaire Thomas Westerburg's (Alex Sharp) fortune.

The movie takes some wild turns as Jo and Penny's plan doesn't exactly go how they wanted and Jo attempts to mentor Penny in the fine art of a smooth con. There's also a shocking twist in the midst of one of their cons that some viewers likely won't seen coming.

The Hustle was directed by Chris Addison from a script co-written by Stanley Shapiro, Paul Henning, Dale Launer, and Jac Schaeffer. Beyond Hathaway, Wilson, and Sharp, the cast also includes Dean Norris, Timothy Simons, Ingrid Oliver, Rob Delaney, and Tim Blake Nelson.

Unfortunately, the movie wasn't well-received by critics and holds a 13% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but moviegoers liked it much more according to its 44% audience score. In spite of its struggle with critics, The Hustle managed to be a minor box office hit, bringing in over $97 million worldwide against its $21 million budget. That wasn't enough for a sequel, but the movie made money for MGM.

Personally, I really enjoyed this movie when I saw it in theaters back in 2019. You never have to twist my arm to watch Anne Hathaway in a movie, especially in a comedy where she shines just as bright as in her dramatic roles. The Oscar winner and Rebel Wilson make for an unexpected pairing, but their different comedic stylings mix well together for a pleasant 90-minute escape.

If you're looking for more Wilson on Netflix, watch her romantic comedies How to Be Single and Isn't It Romantic? (though the latter leaves soon). For more Hathaway on Netflix, check out The Last Thing He Wanted, Ocean's 8 (also leaving soon!), Bride Wars, and both Rio movies.
