Over the past few years, Netflix has become one of the many annual destinations for romantic comedy connoisseurs. More specifically, holiday romantic comedy connoisseurs. The yearly slate of Netflix movies that take place during Christmas and center on a predictable but oh-so cozy love story rivals that of the Hallmark Channel.
Netflix has scored a number of the biggest stars for its holiday movies, like Lindsay Lohan, Chad Michael Murray, Minka Kelly, Lacey Chabert, and so many more. But fans of a certain pop-rock band are going to be particularly excited about who just scored a role in a new Netflix movie that's destined to become a massive sensation when it's released.
Jonas Brothers star Nick Jonas has signed on for a new Netflix original romantic comedy. While the streamer hasn't revealed the title of the forthcoming film, there are a few exciting details that have already been shared, including director Ari Sandel, writer Tamara Chestna, and the synopsis. The plot gives away the fact the movie takes place during the holidays and sets up the central romance.

Nick Jonas set to star in upcoming Netflix romantic comedy
In the currently untitled film, Nick Jonas stars as a "perennial bachelor" who finds his world turned upside as he becomes the guardian of his cousin's child. Suddenly, he goes from being a single man enjoying his life to becoming a single father of an infant, a big change he must navigate. During the holiday season, the child's godmother arrives with the intention of assuming custody and taking the infant off of his hands, but a romantic connection inevitably occurs being the pair.
Obviously, we have seen a number of movies featuring this same premise (like Kate Hudson's underrated rom-com Raising Helen and the Katherine Heigl-Josh Duhamel team-up Life as We Know It). But when it comes to romantic comedies, it's not always about the originality of the concept but about the chemistry between the stars and the unique circumstances that change the narrative dynamics. In this case, the holiday twist will surely have a heartwarming impact.
While Jonas has been acting in projects for almost two decades, including his work on the Disney Channel with Camp Rock and the sitcom Jonas LA, he hasn't yet been the leading star of a romantic comedy. This marks a first for the actor and singer, and there's no doubt the Jonas Brothers fans will show up in full force whenever the movie drops. It's unclear when the untitled Netflix movie begins filming and whether it's being earmarked for release later this year or next year.
Most recently, Jonas has been touring with the Jonas Brothers and released his fifth solo album Sunday Best in February 2026. Last year, the band starred in the Disney+ original movie A Very Jonas Christmas Movie. He'll next been seen in the movies Power Ballad and Jumanji: Open World and is currently filming the holiday horror film White Elephant, which also stars Kathryn Newton, KJ Apa, Ashley Park, Alexandra Shipp, Justice Smith, and more.
When more details about Jonas' Netflix movie are announced, we'll share the latest news and updates!
