Finding out that your favorite show is on the chopping block for removal from Netflix is never an exciting update to hear. It's even worse when you're not even sure if the show is actually going to leave Netflix. That's right where we are with the cult favorite comedy series Arrested Development.

Arrested Development has had a long and interesting run since its initial debut on FOX back 2003. The comedy's relationship with Netflix has been just as long and interesting since the series was revived for a fourth season by the streaming service in 2013. Seasons have been recut, controversies dampened its fifth and final season, and now the entire series could be bounced from Netflix.

Arrested Development poised for Netflix removal in March 2026

While an official removal notice hasn't been placed on the show's page on Netflix, What's on Netflix reports that if all five seasons of Arrested Development in fact leave the streamer, they will do so on Sunday, March 15, 2026. There's not much time left to complete a full binge-watch of the series before it's possibly removed from Netflix in March, but where there's a Bluth, there's a way.

This isn't the first time that Arrested Development has been posed with the threat of being yanked from Netflix's catalog. The series was previously set to leave the platform in February 2023, even the two Netflix original seasons. Miraculously, the removal notice vanished thanks to Netflix and Disney coming up with a new three-year deal to keep the series on Netflix. Could lightning strike twice?

It's entirely possible that when March 15 rolls around, the Bluths will staying put on Netflix again. However, it's also likely that Arrested Development will actually be leaving this time around. Even though the series remains a somewhat popular title on the platform as devoted fans rewatch and revisit the series, being in one place for too long can lead to stagnancy and stifle a legacy.

Disney has opened up the doors to the House of Mouse for Netflix to add some of its top series, which have found success during their limited runs on the streamer. But regaining ownership of a series like Arrested Development could offer the company an opportunity to give it something of a splashy relaunch by bringing it to Hulu and Disney+, where it's currently unavailable.

A series as popular as Arrested Development — which stars big names like Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi Michael Cera, David Cross, Alia Shawkat, Jeffrey Tambor, and Jessica Walter — will never be without a major streaming home. Whether that's solely Netflix, solely Hulu/Disney+, or a best-case-scenario all-of-the-above situation remains to be seen.

If you're a fan of Arrested Development, it might time to sneak in one last binge-watch on Netflix before we find out what happens on March 15 (or hopefully before). The iconic, cult-favorite series could finally be getting a change of streaming scenery for the first time in over a decade, and you don't want to be left without your last laughs care of the Bluths just in case.
