Netflix will have exclusive rights to the blockbuster fight between Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez and American Terence Crawford. This long-anticipated match will stream live on September 13, 2025, from a yet-to-be-determined location in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This is the first major match for the newly established TKO Boxing venture launched in March by UFC's Dana White and Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority and President of the Saudi Boxing Federation.
There will be no pay-per-view fee to stream the fight for Netflix subscribers, which means that potentially 300 million subscribers could tune into Netflix on September 13 to watch this fight live.
Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford coming to Netflix
The Alvarez vs. Crawford fight has been rumored to be in the works since 2023. Canelo Alvarez, 34, is 63-2-2, and he will attempt to hand the 41-0 Terence Crawford, 37, his first defeat.
Mexican boxing traditionally takes center stage in mid-September on the weekend before Mexican Independence Day on September 16, and it holds special significance for Alvarez. He has fought ten times this weekend.
Shortly after Netflix announced the news, the hype began. On Instagram, Crawford posted an image of the event's poster and said that he is not leaving Las Vegas without a win on September 13.
Netflix continues to amp up its sports focus
Though Netflix's business model initially provided for television series and movie programming, in recent years, it has focused on growing the sports market.
With its sports documentaries, including 2025 hits including Carlos Alcaraz: My Way and Untold: The Fall of Favre, and NFL Christmas Day games, the streaming provider is evolving to include live and prerecorded programming to pique all subscribers' interests.
Netflix hopes this event will add to its growing boxing success. Its last boxing event, featuring Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, streamed live on November 15, 2024, from Arlington, Texas, drawing 65 million concurrent viewers.
