Netflix just renewed 2 international shows that you probably missed

Netflix has long proven itself not just as a streaming platform but as a global cultural powerhouse. In an era when audiences are hungry for fresh perspectives, gripping narratives, and memorable characters, the streaming giant has consistently delivered some of the most compelling international series the world has ever seen.

Remember Squid Game? The South Korean survival thriller that had audiences everywhere glued to their screens? And it wasn’t an isolated success. We can't forget Money Heist, which turned a Spanish crime story into a worldwide obsession. The streaming giant always seems to know exactly what viewers crave, consistently unearthing bold, audacious stories from every corner of the globe.

And now, it's proving yet again that it’s committed to international storytelling in a major way. Netflix has just renewed two of its international series, and there's a possibility these shows might have slipped under your radar when they were initially released this year.

The first series is the Brazilian crime drama Rulers of Fortune. The first season made its way to Netflix on Oct. 29, and it quickly captured the attention of viewers worldwide with its portrayal of Rio de Janeiro’s gambling underworld. The plot centers around Profeta, a young man determined to rise through the ranks of the city's criminal underworld to secure his place at the top of its illicit gambling empire.

It stars Elite's André Lamoglia in the leading role of Profeta. Also in the cast are Chico Diaz, Giullia Buscaccio, Juliana Paes, Mel Maia, Xamã, Adriano Garib, Bruno Mazzeo, Dandara Mariana, Igor Fernandez, Pedro Lamin, Ruan Aguiar, Stepan Nercessian, and Tuca Andrada.

Netflix announced the Rulers of Fortune season 2 renewal via its official X page on Nov. 12. Along with the big announcement, the streaming giant included a short video of Lamoglia. You can check it out below!

Old Money season 1

The other international Netflix series that has just been renewed is Old Money. Premiering on Netflix on Oct. 10, it's a Turkish romantic drama that dives into the glamorous and cutthroat world of Istanbul’s elite. The show centers on Osman, a self-made tycoon, and Nihal, a woman born into a wealthy and influential family. As their lives and ambitions collide, they must navigate romance, family expectations, and high-stakes power struggles.

Engin Akyürek takes on the role of Osman, while Aslı Enver plays Nihal. According to Deadline, the cameras are reportedly set to start rolling on Old Money season 2 sometime in 2026. However, no details about the cast or plot for the second installment have been revealed.
