Superheroes have always been a staple of pop culture. Whether it's the Marvel or DC heroes, they have been major parts of our lives on screen and in the pages of our favorite comic books. But superheroes have started to come in various shapes even outside the confines of the Marvel and DC universes, with original and obscure supes becoming some of our absolute favorites.

Recently, fans have become obsessed with the likes of The Boys and Daredevil: Born Again, but in the past, superheroes weren't just reserved for either the big screen or streaming services. Once upon a time, there were on the small screen on broadcast networks like The CW, ABC, and NBC. In fact, NBC was home to one of the greatest superhero shows, and it's coming soon to Netflix.

Heroes being added to Netflix in July 2026

The underrated and short-lived NBC superhero drama series Heroes will be available to stream on Netflix when its added to the streaming service on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. It's one of the many great TV shows coming to Netflix in July, and since it drops at the top of the month, it's surely going to be one of the most popular shows fans will rush to rewatch and rediscover.

Unfortunately, the complete series won't be added to Netflix. All four original seasons of Heroes will be added to Netflix in July, but the continuation miniseries, Heroes: Reborn, which aired on NBC in September 2015 through January 2016, isn't set to drop on the streamer. But the offshoot's absence on the platform won't take away from the viewing experience of the original sensation.

Heroes made its premiere on NBC back in September 2006, which means that in September 2026, the series created by Tim Kring will be celebrating its 20th anniversary. Time has certainly flown by since the series debuted as one of the most promising new television series. Seriously, back in 2006, Heroes was the show everyone was talking about — until they're weren't.

Unlike traditional superhero shows and movies where there are capes and costumes, Heroes centers on a group of average people who happen to have incredible abilities. Each of them manage to come together to use their powers for good and ward of potentially disastrous futures for humanity. Each season is designated as a separate volume in the overarching story, sometimes even two volumes.

While Heroes looked to have a bright future ahead with season 4 ending on a major cliffhanger, much has been said about the show's decline in rating and critical reception throughout its run. Once a highly rated show everyone couldn't get enough of, each season marked a decline in both metrics, though in hindsight, that could have been more to do with NBC's in-flux nature during that time.

Like other popular television dramas of its time, like Desperate Housewives and Lost, the series had a large cast that was led by Hayden Panettiere, Milo Ventimiglia, Greg Grunberg, Masi Oka, Ali Larter, Adrian Pasdar, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Jack Coleman, and others like Zachary Quinto, Dania Ramirez, and James Kyson Lee throughout its run.

If you have been in search of a gripping new show to binge-watch and have been coming up lacking as you scrolled through Netflix, here's the show you have been waiting for. Whether for the first time, the second time, or the millionth time, watch Heroes on Netflix beginning on July 1.
