Are you ready for more Fear Street? Netflix hopes so, but they are not holding back on the violence much this time. In a newly dropped teaser trailer for Fear Street: Prom Night, we only get a glimpse of the horror about to come. But make no mistake, there will be horror.
This will be the streamer's fourth installment of the series of R.L. Stine books. But if twill be the first in four years. That was when we got to see 1994, 1978, and 1666. In Prom Queen, the story revolves around a gaggle of It Girls all pining to win, well, you guess it...prom queen. Only an outsider also gets nominated for queen and people start disappearing.
The movie will be set in 1988, and the teaser shows that Netflix appears to have gotten the tone exactly correct for the time. There is a blood-covered disco ball, lots of screams as if someone is stuck in a haunted house, and the clothes are pure 1980s.
Teaser trailer implies Fear Street: Prom Queen will be another winner for Netflix
In other words, there are enough hints that the film will be deliciously campy, and scary as heck, just as it should be. The release date is also perfect for prom season, though maybe just a bit after many American schools hold their proms. We can begin watching the flick on May 23, 2025.

One might also wonder how many reference points there will be to the Jamie Lee Curtis-led 1980 slasher Prom Night. That movie has little to do with the R.L. Stine series, but there is no reason we cannot have a bit of a mishmash of the two. Both are frightening with the same sensibilities, and both cause audiences (and readers) to squirm.
The cast of Fear Street: Prom Night will include Ariana Greenblatt (Avengers: Infinity War), Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Lili Taylor (The Conjuring), India Fowler (The Agency), and Chris Klein, among many others.
