Each month, we go through the same cycle with Netflix. A new crop of original and acquired content is added, and a variety of movies and shows are removed. Without fail there's always something that gets yanked from our watch list before we have completed our binge-watch, but there's dependably even more Netflix new releases to take their place right away.
In April 2026, Netflix doesn't added nearly as many TV shows from past and present and previous months this year have. We had been treated to great shows like Search Party, What I Like About You, and Mike & Molly, but April's selections won't be sending you on a nostalgic trip to binge-watches past. Rather, two recent hits are landing on Netflix for the first time.

Happy's Place and St. Denis Medial added to Netflix in April
While the calendar might say it's April Fool's Day, it's not a prank that NBC comedies Happy's Place and St. Denis Medical will be added to Netflix on April 1, 2026. Both shows, which have each already been secured with renewals for third seasons, will drop their first seasons at the top of April. It's perfect opportunity for new fans to discover the series if you haven't watched on NBC or Peacock.
Happy's Place stars Reba McEntire as Bobbie, who inherits her father's titular bar following his passing. She also learns that she has a 20-something sister Isabella (Belissa Escobedo) that she has never met. Suddenly, they're working together at the bar and becoming sisters in spite of their generational divide. The series also stars McEntire's Reba costar Melissa Peterman.
From a multi-cam workplace comedy to a single-cam workplace comedy, keep the laughs going with St. Denis Medical. The mockumentary medical comedy takes place in a struggling hospital as its staff attempts to provide the best care possible for their patients. However, that's easier said than done when their leader Joyce (Wendi McLendon Covery) in an unpredictable loose cannon.

Queen of the South, Black Sails, and Van Helsing leaving Netflix
If you're a comedy fan, it's definitely time to celebrate the additions of Happy's Place and St. Denis Medical. While we wait for their second seasons to wrap airing on NBC and hopefully come to Netflix sooner rather than later, fans of past drama hits will have to hurry to sneak in one last binge-watch of former favorites that will no longer call Netflix home after April 2026.
Queen of the South seasons 1-5 leave Netflix on April 7, Van Helsing seasons 1-5 leave Netflix on April 16, and Black Sails season 1-4 leave Netflix on April 17. It's been a while since we have seen this many fan-favorite drama series removed from Netflix so close together, and it surely won't be the last. But it still stings considering how long each of them have been available on Netflix.
The USA Network crime drama Queen of the South found popularity on the streamer years ago, and while that popularity has since declined, it still remained a top choice for a gripping binge-watch. Syfy's fantasy-horror drama Van Helsing and Starz's action-adventure drama Black Sails were each underrated hits that will no longer have that far reach and wide audience that Netflix provides.
Each of these three shows will remain available online to watch via purchase or, in the cases of Van Helsing and Black Sails, on various free streaming services. Hopefully, they will all find a place on another major streaming service sometime soon after leaving Netflix. While it's a bummer to lose these shows, at least Happy's Place and St. Denis Medical will provide laughs in their place!
