Netflix is dropping 8 movies this week (February 17, 2025)

So long and goodbye.

While Netflix is constantly adding things to its vast library (which is good for us subscribers, of course), the streamer also has to get rid of things too. One can assume that Netflix has many large servers to house all the movies and series that we get to see. But maybe those servers begin to lack room, so some things have to go.

This week is not too bad for having to say goodbye to some items. The 21st is by far the saddest day. Southpaw is a fantastic film starring Jake Gyllenhaal as a boxer who must turn his life around after a tragedy occurs. It is a bit too by note at times, but the acting makes up for any lag in the story.

Book Club also leaves on that day. There is also little doubt as to the acting ability of the cast. The film features Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen. The storyline revolves around the ladies choosing a romance novel as their book to read and it ends up affecting their own love lives.

Netflix is saying goodbye to a few great films this week

All Good Things stars Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst and Gosling's character is suspected of murdering his wife. While far from perfect, the flick has enough plot twists and is creepy enough to give it another chance to watch before it leaves the streamer and ends up on some other (lesser) streamer.

The Man from Nowhere is a Korean action film where the main character is lured back into the drug trade after being out of the game for a bit. Rotten Tomatoes has given it a perfect 100 score among critics, so it is one not to be missed. Just like everything Korea has produced over the last decade and a half, the film is bound to be enjoyable.

Of course, the saddest week for Netflix viewers will come next week. That is the last week of the month, so there will be a lot of changes. A number if high-quality movies and series will be saying goodbye then. But more on that in next week's article.
