It's officially been over one year since Ransom Canyon premiered on Netflix and became one of our new romantic drama favorites. The Netflix original series starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, which is based on the book of the same name by Jodi Thomas, arrived in April 2025 and delivered everything we want from a feel-good drama. Thankfully, it's back for more.
Netflix renewed Ransom Canyon season 2 shortly after the show's premiere last year, and following the renewal in June 2025, we're about to receive new episodes on our watch list about one year later. While we started to expect the new season to arrived later than we had imagined, Netflix just gave us the release date news we were hoping for. Get ready for season 2 this summer!
Ransom Canyon season 2 premieres in July 2026
Mark your calendars and set your reminders! Ransom Canyon season 2 releases on Thursday, July 23, 2026 on Netflix. The new season will release all at once, but there's a change to the release strategy this time around. While the first season contained 10 episodes, Netflix revealed that the season season only contains eight episodes. The slightly reduced episode count likely helped the series return to our watch lists sooner, since that wasn't always a given.

Earlier this year, Netflix offered a preview of its new and returning original series set to be released in 2026, but Ransom Canyon season 2 wasn't included on that list. Because of its omission, fans had begun to believe that the series would be delayed for release until sometime in 2027 despite filming coming to an end in January 2026. However, that's not the case anymore.
Ransom Canyon star Garrett Wareing teased fans in April 2026 that season 2 was coming to Netflix "sooner than you know," which officially confirmed that the series would be back this year. Not long after, Netflix made the release date announcement and gave us all something exciting to look forward to this summer. In addition, the streamer gave us a handful of photos and the synopsis.
The ending of the first season was full of bittersweet moments following Cap's death. Staten found himself continuing to be in the middle of ranching drama between his father and Davis, while the surprise arrival of Yancy's secret wife threw a wrench in his plans to marry Ellie. Not to mention, Quinn and Staten's relationship blew up and led to her spending some time away in New York.
But season 2 brings us back to Ransom Canyon half a year later and promises some big questions for Staten and Quinn moving forward:
"Season 2 picks up six months after the events of the first season, with rancher Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel) fighting to reclaim his legacy after being unseated as trustee of his family's Double K Ranch, while musician Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly) must decide if her heart truly belongs in the small town she once tried to outrun or in the fast-paced world of New York City. Are they star-crossed lovers, or fated to be together? In Ransom Canyon, true love stories are messy, complicated, and always worth the wait."
Ransom Canyon season 2 also boasts some major guest stars, including Patricia Clarkson as Quinn's mother Claire and Steve Howey as a mystery recurring character. Ben Robson and Heidi Egerman also join the cast, which also includes Lizzy Greene, Philip Winchester, Garrett Wareing, Casey W. Johnson, Jack Schumacher, Marianly Tejada, and more.
