Netflix just announced a huge filming update about its hottest show of the summer, The Hunting Wives starring Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman.

On Monday, Nov. 17, Netflix revealed the cast and crew have finally started filming The Hunting Wives season 2 in Charlotte, North Carolina, just a few months after the series was renewed for a second season. Netflix officially announced season 2 back in September 2025.

In the announcement, Netflix shared a picture of Akerman's iconic Margo wig, along with a much better picture of Snow, Akerman, and fellow star Jaime Ray Newman. The trio play Sophie, Margo, and Callie in the series, of course.

The first season of the series is based on May Cobb's best-selling novel. We don't know what exactly is going to happen in season 2, but Netflix shared the synopsis for season 2, giving fans a little summary of what to expect.

"At the start of Season 2, Sophie and Margo are on the outs. But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games the question arises. Are they the hunters or the hunted?"

The Hunting Wives season 2 reportedly continues filming into the spring of 2026

Netflix didn't indicate when production might end on The Hunting Wives season 2, but reports indicate production could continue until March 2026, which is not great news for those who want to see the new season back on Netflix soon.

The earliest we could see The Hunting Wives season 2 on Netflix is going to be six months from when production ends. So, that would be September or October 2026, assuming production goes according to the schedule we've seen online. If production ends sooner, or runs long, we could see the series return even later next year.

Remember, Netflix isn't beholden to the traditional TV schedule, like the big broadcast networks. They'll stash shows for a little bit of time to make sure the show is set up to succeed to fill their TV schedule.

So, the earliest we could see the season is next fall, but it could be even longer than that if Netflix chooses to wait a little bit.

The good news is this is basically as fast as we could possibly expect to see The Hunting Wives season 2 on Netflix after what happened with the first season, which premiered on Netflix in the United States on July 21. In that span, Netflix has picked up the show for season 2, worked out all the rights to secure the global rights to the series, had ceator Rebecca Cutter and the writers write and prep season 2, and do all the other pre-production stuff in a four-month window to get production started. That is so impressive. Well done, everyone involved!
