A familiar face returns.

Season 1 of Netflix's Quarterback followed the paths of three QBs a few seasons ago. We got a look into their games, but also their off-field life. And Netflix, in conjunction with Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions, went big. One of the quarterbacks featured was the Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes. The other two were Marcus Mariota and the Minnesota Vikings' Kirk Cousins.

Cousins likely came out looking the best. None of the quarterbacks were seen as bad human beings, of course, but Mahomes just seems like a nice guy who plays great football. Marcus Mariota was classy, but not overly accomplished. Cousins, though, made a real connection with viewers and he felt like one of us who also just happened to play professional football.

The good news is that Netflix subscribers get to meet Cousins again. He was one of the quarterbacks announced on Wednesday to be part of the second season of the series. While he might be viewed in the same manner, his football career has taken a different arc since season one of the show.

More on that in just a minute, but the other two quarterbacks who the series will follow are the Cincinnati Bengals' Joe Burrow and the Detroit Lions' Jared Goff. Burrow is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and will probably remain that way for most of the next decade. Goff leads one of the best teams in the league and has had an interesting career.

Goff began his career as the top choice in the 2016 NFL draft and was chosen by the Los Angeles Rams. After five inconsistent seasons with the Rams, the team traded him to the Detroit Lions and LA added Matthew Stafford. Stafford and the Rams went on to win a Super Bowl after the move. Goff has had some good seasons with the Lions, but his team has not gotten to a championship game yet.

Cousins might very well be the star of Quarterback again, though. While Burrow and Goff are both good at their jobs, neither comes across as a kind of scene-stealing personality. They seem like nice guys, sure, but not overly effervescent.

Of course, Cousins appeared to be the same way before season one of the show. Now, he could run for political office, though he seems too nice for that.

There is no specific date when the second season of Quarterback will be released, but it should be this summer. The show will follow the 2024-25 seasons of the quarterbacks. Only Goff's team made the playoffs. Unlike the others, Cousins appeared to lose his job to his backup at the end of the season, so there could be some interesting drama to watch there.
