Each month, we always look forward to new movies and shows being added to Netflix. Between nostalgic series we haven't watched in years to the latest big-screen hits, our Netflix watch lists are constantly filled with amazing content. There's even a constant stream of unscripted titles, too, whether documentaries or the reality shows that get the internet talking.
But it's not often that we have the chance to watch Broadway musicals and shows right from the comfort of our couches. You don't see Broadway proshots being added to Netflix each month, or really at all, but in April 2026, that's going to change. Merrily We Roll Along, one of the most popular, Tony Award-winning musical revivals is headed to Netflix this spring.
Merrily We Roll Along proshot coming to Netflix in April 2026
From the stage to our screens, Merrily We Roll Along will be added to Netflix in the United States on Saturday, April 4, 2026. If you didn't get the chance to watch the talented cast bring the critically acclaimed revival to life in New York City, or you missed the proshot's theatrical release date in December 2025, here's your opportunity to watch the star-studded hit at home.
If you're unfamiliar with Merrily We Roll Along, the musical centers on Franklin Shepard (Jonathan Groff), a famous songwriter and film producer whose life and career is tracked across two decades. The show explores how Franklin navigates his initial career path and reconciles eventually selling out and obtaining wealth, losing some important things along the way.
Merrily We Roll Along was first revived Off-Broadway in 2022 with the same cast before debuting on Broadway the following year. In spite of being based on a musical from 1981 that didn't particularly move the needle, the revival from director Maria Friedman became highly regarded and a best-seller. The revival closed in July 2024 but a proshot was filmed by the same company behind Hamilton.
The revival landed seven Tony Award nominations and won all but three, taking home top prizes for Best Revival of a Musical, Best Actor (Jonathan Groff), Best Featured Actor (Daniel Radcliffe), and Best Orchestrations. Additionally, the cast recording was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, though it didn't take home that win.
Ultimately, Sony Pictures Classics snagged the rights to Merrily We Roll Along's proshot, which hit theaters in December 2025. Now, just a few short months later, it's being added to Netflix for another opportunity to be appreciated. It's definitely going to continue to drum up excitement for Richard Linklater's film adaptation starring Paul Mescal, Beanie Feldstein, and Ben Platt.
Make sure not to miss Merrily We Roll Along on Netflix beginning April 4.
