There’s something exciting about when Netflix updates its library with licensed titles. Although original content often steals the spotlight, licensed additions bring a distinct kind of appeal all on their own.
For subscribers, these additions breathe new energy into browsing queues, offering audiences a chance to discover movies they may have missed in theaters or revisit stories they already love without the hassle of tracking them down across multiple platforms.
This week, Netflix is set to deliver exactly that kind of excitement with the arrival of an acclaimed horror rom-com starring Melissa Barrera. You probably missed it when it hit theaters back in 2024 due to its limited theatrical release, but its Netflix debut is about to give the film a well-deserved second chance to shine!
Your Monster arrives on Netflix in Februrary 2026

We're not messing around! Your Monster is set for a release on Netflix on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026. Yes, that's Valentine's Day, making it the perfect opportunity to trade in the usual love stories for something a little darker, funnier, and refreshingly unconventional. Although not confirmed, the film could drop on the streaming platform at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET on its release date. That's the usual time Netflix releases new content.
Barrera has steadily built a reputation as one of modern horror’s most exciting and emotionally compelling performers, but Your Monster may be one of her most unique and daring projects yet. Directed and written by Caroline Lindy in her feature film debut, Your Monster takes a wildly imaginative concept and transforms it into a touching exploration of heartbreak, self-discovery, and emotional healing.
At the center of the film is Laura Franco, played by Barrera, a soft-spoken actress whose life begins to unravel in devastating fashion. Laura is already grappling with a serious health diagnosis when her long-term boyfriend, Jacob, suddenly breaks up with her.
The betrayal cuts even deeper because Jacob isn’t just her partner. He’s also a playwright producing a musical that Laura helped him develop. Losing both her relationship and her creative collaboration leaves Laura feeling directionless and emotionally shattered.
With nowhere else to turn, Laura retreats to her childhood home to recover physically and emotionally. However, what’s meant to be a safe and familiar refuge quickly becomes something far stranger when she discovers she’s not alone. Living inside her closet is a mysterious, terrifying, and oddly charming monster.
As Laura cautiously navigates this bizarre new reality, she begins to see the creature not as a source of fear but as an unexpected companion who helps her confront the anger, grief, and self-doubt she has long buried.
Joining Barrera in the cast as the Monster is Tommy Dewey. In addition, Edmund Donovan, Meghann Fahy, and Kayla Foster are the other talented actors in the cast.

I personally got the chance to watch Your Monster when it first came out and was completely shocked by how the film wraps up. Of course, I'm not going to spoil anything. But I will say that you definitely won't see that wild ending coming. So, do yourself a favor and add this movie to your watchlist already. I promise you won't be disappointed!
