Outer Banks is a great show that will be coming to an end soon. The fifth and final season will be arriving in 2026 or 2027, and after that, we say goodbye. The good part is the only the series is going away. The actors are still relevant.
This is especially true for the actor who plays Pope Heyward, Jonathan Daviss. Potentially in between now and when the final season of his Netflix series ends, Daviss will appear as Snoop Dogg in the hip-hop artist's biopic.
Filming for that project has not yet gotten underway, and there is no timeline for the release of the movie as the full cast has not yet been announced, but it is good to know that Daviss is not going to fade away after his Netflix days are done.
Outer Banks' Jonathan Daviss set to play lead role in untitled Snoop Dogg biopic
For those who don't know much about Outer Banks, the series began with the premise that there was a treasure linked to the main character, John B, father's disappearance. To help find said treasure, John gets three of his best friends to help. Daviss's Pope is one of those best friends.
And for those who do not know much about Snoop Dogg, he is a legendary rapper who has had 10 top-10 albums in the United States, as well as 10 top-10 singles. He also has a hand in nearly everything you could imagine. He carried the Olympic torch near the close of the 2024 Paris Olympics and has been involved in all facets of the entertainment industry for decades.
The untitled Snoop Dogg biopic is set from the rapper's troubled youth to the beginnings of his fantastically successful hip-hop career. This makes the mid-20s Daviss perfect for the role as he looks younger than he is, but can act as if he is older than 30.
At the end of season 4 of Outer Banks, John B and his, well...whatever, Sarah, are planning to return, but face an uncertain issue, especially after the sudden death of JJ. What will happen in season 5 is anyone's guess. It's also a guess whether the final season will be split into two, but if Netflix follows recent trends with Squid Game, Stranger Things, and others, it will.
The director of the Snoop Dogg biopic is Craig Brewer, who has directed such projects as Hustle & Flow, while Snoop Dogg will produce along with Brian Glazer and Death Row Pictures' Sara Ramaker.
