39 movies are leaving Netflix this December (but these 2 you can't miss)

Netflix has a knack for tempting us with incredible movies and shows, adding all these must-watch titles to its library that get us excited to binge. But just when we get comfortable, a harsh reality sets in. While the streaming giant's original content remains on the platform forever, licensed movies and shows often come and go.

Time and time again, subscribers find themselves rushing to watch a favorite film before it vanishes from the platform. Unfortunately, we'll be facing yet another wave of removals next month. This December, Netflix is set to remove 39 movies from its catalog. However, there are a couple of standout titles among them that you absolutely won’t want to miss before they disappear. Wonka is leaving Netflix in December 2025

Wonka is a dazzling, imaginative look at the early life of Willy Wonka, the eccentric chocolatier whose creativity has captivated audiences for generations. Rather than retelling the story we already know from Roald Dahl’s books or previous film adaptations, this movie explores the events and challenges that shaped Wonka, revealing how his quirks, passions, and inspirations came together to create the iconic candy maker we all recognize today.

Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet stars as the young Wonka. Joining him in the cast are other talented actors, including Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carter, Olivia Colman, and Hugh Grant.

Although Wonka will be leaving Netflix in December, it will still be available to watch on other streaming platforms such as HBO Max.

10 Things I Hate About You is departing Netflix in December 2025

If you haven’t seen 10 Things I Hate About You, you’re seriously missing out on one of the sharpest, funniest, and most heartfelt teen romantic comedies ever made. What's so great about this movie is that it actually gets what it feels like to be a teenager. We're talking all the messy crushes, awkward first kisses, and the constant struggle to figure out who you are while everyone around you seems to have it all together.

Loosely inspired by William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, 10 Things I Hate About You follows the Stratford sisters. Kat is fiercely independent, sharp-tongued, and completely uninterested in the shallow social games of high school, while her younger sister Bianca is sweet, popular, and desperate to date.

But there’s a catch: Bianca isn’t allowed to date until Kat does. So, the scheming begins. Enter Cameron James, a hopelessly smitten new student who’s determined to win Bianca’s heart. To make it happen, he hatches a plan to get Patrick Verona, the brooding and charming bad boy, to woo Kat and sweep her off her feet.

Julia Stiles and Larisa Oleynik star in the leading roles of Kat and Bianca Stratford, while Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Heath Ledger take on the roles of Cameron and Patrick. After 10 Things I Hate About You departs Netflix in December, you'll still have the option to stream this movie on Hulu and Disney+.
