Millie Bobby Brown's next Netflix project after Stranger Things gets enticing first-look

It's already been a massive year for Millie Bobby Brown with the widely successful ending of Stranger Things. After 10 years, the young star's journey as the iconic and powerful character Eleven has come to an end, but that doesn't mean we won't be seeing Brown back on Netflix very soon. No, she's not returning as her waffle-loving hero, but she's reprising another great role.

Later this year, Brown will be back as the fearless young detective Enola Holmes in the upcoming third film in Netflix's ongoing series. The streaming service unveiled a preview of its upcoming slate of new release movies and shows confirmed to arrive in 2026 and offered further details on when to expect Brown back in sleuth mode in Enola Holmes 3.

The highly anticipated sequel will premiere on Netflix in summer 2026. While the streamer hasn't provided an exact release month, learning the release window is the biggest update we have gotten about the movie. In addition to revealing when we'll be taking on our next mystery with Enola, the streamer also dropped a truly jaw-dropping image from the movie!

Enola Holmes 3 is back on the case in summer 2026 on Netflix

Millie Bobby Brown appears stunned in the first-look image from Enola Holmes 3 as her mouth hangs agape looking at the — zooms in — handmade engagement ring Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge) constructed for her with a flower while down on one knee. Clearly, Enola wasn't expecting Tewkesbury to propose (if that's in fact what he's doing), but she doesn't look like the bad kind of surprised, right?

The synopsis for Enola Holmes 3 shared by Netflix hints at some new developments in Enola's personal life as her dreams for her career as a detective and those she has for her private affairs collide while on her latest case in Malta. Netflix hasn't divulged what takes Enola to Malta or the specifics of her new case, but here's what the streamer has already teased about the movie:

"Adventure chases detective Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) to Malta, where personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before."

Beyond Brown and Partridge reprising their roles, Enola Holmes 3 also stars Henry Cavill, Himesh Patel, Helena Bonham-Carter, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster. Once again, the movie is written by Jack Thorne, who also wrote the previous two installments, though Emmy Award-winning Adolescence director Philip Barantini takes over as director from Harry Bradbeer.

It's been a long wait for Enola Holmes 3, but not nearly as long of a wait as that for Stranger Things 5. The previous sequel was last released on Netflix in November 2022. Another movie wasn't confirmed to be in the works until November 2024, and the sequel kicked off production in April 2025 and completed filming by late June. Thankfully, the wait will soon be over!
