Lupin season 5 is more likely than ever after latest Netflix ratings update

We're not ready to say goodbye to Lupin just yet, and we probably won't have to.

If the latest Netflix ratings are any indication, Lupin is here to stay for at least one more season.

Lupin officially returned for season 4 on Oct. 24, 2026, and the new season was a smashing success, if I do say so myself. Lupin season 4 took home the top spot on the Netflix Top 10 list for non-English shows with 10.8 million views in its first full week on Netflix.

That's a great start to what should be the biggest or second-biggest non-English Netflix show of 2026 at the end of its first three months on Netflix. For those who don't know, that's when Netflix stops releasing viewership information for its shows and movies.

In its first two days on Netflix, Lupin season 4 racked up 6.4 million views. And, it's been a staple on the Netflix US Top 10 TV shows list, and it's been No. 1 in France and other countries around the world. By now, it's clear that Lupin season 4 will easily top 20 million views in its first two full weeks on Netflix, and that's great news for those who want to see Lupin season 5.

Netflix should renew Lupin for season 5 soon

Lupin is already one of the most-watched non-English Netflix shows ever. It's no Squid Game, but it's solid. On the all-time non-English Netflix Top 10, Lupin occupies the No. 5 and No. 7 spots, alongside Squid Game, Money Heist, and La Palma.

With Lupin season 4 on pace to hit the all-time Netflix Top 10 as well, there's no doubt that Netflix is going to renew Lupin for season 5. It's simply going to happen because of the ratings, but it's also because this is one of the best shows on Netflix.

There's no heist show better than Lupin on Netflix. I know Money Heist is always in that mix, along with Berlin. Those are not Lupin, though. There's something so whimsical and magical about this show. It's easily the best French Netflix original of all time, and that matters.

Beyond that, Omar Sy is a massive star, and he's only getting bigger. I won't be surprised if he's the lead in a billion-dollar movie or nominated for an Oscar in the next decade. He's that good!

Sy isn't ready to stop playing Lupin yet either. In an interview with the Radio Times, Sy said "It's amazing to have four seasons of a show... it's like in life, the older you get, the end, it's closer."

That's quite ominous, but he did hint there's definitely more to come, including a solid ending.

"So I'll make sure that it's going to have the ending that I wish for him... which is him finally finding peace, you know," Sy said. "Because from the first season, it's been Assane struggling to be Assane and Lupin; both sides of him are really in a kind of schizophrenic crisis. So being able to live with both [sides of him] in peace, and finally being the father he wants to be. I really wish that for him."

Last but not least, Lupin season 4 absolutely sets up for a fifth season of the series to happen. I don't want to get into the spoilers because this show is so new and many fans haven't completed their binge-watch yet. I feel comfortable admitting that there's more to the story, though. This will not be the last time we see Assane Diop.

The first season is clearly the best season of Lupin, but season 4 is probably the second-best season of the series. It's a breath of fresh air in a cold, cold world at the moment.

We'll continue share Lupin season 5 updates as we find out. Stay tuned!
