The amount of drama coming out about reality TV cast and storylines before the season even airs has been insane. Love is Blind is no different.
While past seasons have included their share of scandals and criticism, Season 8 is on a whole new level. Here are the biggest rumors of the season and the reality behind them so far.
I would like to clarify that these are all alleged, and I am neither agreeing nor disagreeing with anything, just presenting the stories and information that have come to light so far. Don't @ me.
Love is Blind's Molly has never had a serious relationship
According to her podcast intro, confessionals, and many conversations, Molly Mullaney has had situationships but never a long-term relationship with a partner. Color me shocked when she decided the best place to find her forever man was on reality TV. And she picked Dave Bettenburg, our current villain of the season, of all people.
It seems like it's similar to Season 1, where we were led to believe cast member Taylor Upton was a virgin (he was not). When Lauren and Dave discuss Molly during their vacation, which was awkward or not, there are questions left hanging about how serious her situationships might have been. Hoping Molly weighs in during the cast meet-up on this week's episodes.
Lauren had a fling with a mutual friend of Dave's
The way Dave is making a fuss over it, you would think he found fiancee Lauren' O'Brien in the coat closet with her wedding dress unzipped at their wedding. Lauren repeatedly explains that despite them spending time together recently, it was never serious with her former friend with benefits. That doesn't seem to matter to Dave, or his friends, or his sister. According to him, not a single person is ok with Lauren having been involved with someone before ever having met her fiancee.
Whether Dave's friends and family really have an opinion on Lauren's prior relationships or not isn't clear. We only know what Dave tells Lauren, and so far, he's telling her he's just not into it. The speculation is that he is having regrets and doesn't want to be the bad guy. Considering how he's coming across, though, it would have been better if he just cut ties and saved them both the heartache.
Alex's alleged party boy days
This one is tough. According to various media outlets, Love is Blind season 8 cast member Alex Brown is accused of buying alcohol for minors and inappropriate behavior and messages to these minors. StyleCaster also mentions that Alex has been posted in various dating groups in Minnesota.
Alex hasn't made any comments himself about the allegations.
That TikTok about Ben
In last week's episode, the couples finally move into their shared apartments and get their phones back. One of the first things Sara stumbles upon is a TikTok from her fiancee, Ben Mezzenga's ex, claiming that he is on the show for the wrong reasons and that he's a terrible person. She also claims for legal reasons. She won't get more specific or name the cast member, but even Ben has confirmed it's about him.
After a very awkward exchange with Ben remembering nothing and everything at the same time in trying to explain the situation to Sara, we are left on a cliffhanger of sorts. Considering some of the allegations to come out this season and how vague the TikToks were, this rumor is one of the lowest on the totem pole of concerning behavior for me, personally.
There were additional engagements we didn't see
They can't include every single cast member and couple in the hour-long episodes that drop of Love is Blind, but the decision for who actually gets featured is mystifying.
This season, we spent the majority of six pod episodes in Madison's pod as she got to know Alex and Mason, only for them and Mason's other connection, Meg, to all end up alone. While that's frustrating enough, how would you feel if there were not one, not two, but three other relationships we didn't get to see? At. All. Chris Coelen and I are about to throw down in a Celebrity Death Match style. So who were the couples?
Kylie and Brian
The most well-known to fans are Kylie Schuelke and Brian Sumption. They posted joint Instagram photos of the two getting cozy in the snow in front of Brian's wine bar. While we have no clue, or at least I don't, if they got engaged, or left the pods together, or got together after, what we do know is they're adorable together, and I would have loved to see that love story develop.
Brittany and Mo
You may remember Brittany Dodson as the queen who dated Devin Buckley (who proposed to Virginia Miller) until he couldn't get over her bisexuality. She seemingly left the pods alone, but wait...there's more!
Brittany did NOT leave the pods alone. She didn't leave the pods at all until fellow cast member Mo Ndiaye put a ring on it. Let's take a moment of silence for not seeing this relationship either. While there are lots of allegations flying around about who broke it off with whom and why, what is confirmed is that the couple broke up before leaving for Honduras. Mo was referred to as problematic by several sources, but since we haven't seen a single frame of him on the show, it's hard to judge.
Vanessa and Adam
This one was a shocker to me. I had initially chosen Vanessa Boreland as a cast member I was sure to be featured on the season based on her brief bio and cast photo. Not only did she not get any air time, but there was a whole love story between her and pod boyfriend Adam Bevis that we saw exactly 0 percent of.
While Vanessa still has to abide by her NDA, her mom does not and was happy to spill the tea on MPR News. The couple dated until the end and had a messy breakup. If we were going to get six episodes of pods, surely we could have squeezed in more of this story.
Alex DM'd Madison after they left the pods
This one is hot off the presses. Once they left the show and got their phones back, Alex (again, allegedly) looked up pod ex Madison Errichiello on Instagram and was floored at how gorgeous he is. According to Madison, Alex was begging her to meet him at the airport and give him another chance.
How do you think this one played out? I said it once and I'll say it again. Love isn't THAT blind.
