Gaga ooh la la! Wednesday season 2 appears to have attracted even more star power with the addition of an Academy Award and Grammy Award-winning pop star and actress.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Lady Gaga has reportedly joined the cast of Wednesday season 2 in an as-yet unannounced role. While the Golden Globe-winning actress' exact role hasn't been confirmed, it's expected to be a smaller cameo part given season 2 has been filming since May 2024 and wraps at the end of November.

As Entertainment Weekly reports, Gaga's currently filming her scenes in Europe, where season 2 has been hard at work filming in Ireland. Prior to the outlet's announcement on Nov. 13 of Gaga's involvement in Wednesday season 2, neither Netflix nor the pop icon herself had teased or revealed that she had been cast. But it's an exciting and fitting casting!

Lady Gaga joining Wednesday season 2 in mystery role

Of course, Lady Gaga has been somewhat engrained in the world of Wednesday after the show's release in November 2022. When series star Jenna Ortega's dance from the series was going viral on social media, videos were paired with Gaga's Born This Way (2011) album track "Bloody Mary," which was subsequently push as a single in the wake of its years-later success.

While attending the 2023 Golden Globe Awards, in which Ortega was nominated for her performance in the series, she mused about the possibility of the singer-actress appearing in a guest starring role in season 2. She likened Gaga's potential presence on the show to that of Wednesday's dynamic with Mrs. Thornhill (Christina Ricci). Here's what she told Variety in January 2023:

"I'm sure Netflix would love that. I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other."

Variety reports that the series had initially courted Gaga for a bigger role in the highly anticipated second season, but the logistics didn't come together in the end. Lady Gaga has been particularly busy as of late with her role in Joker: Folie à Deux, the companion soundtrack album Harlequin, her hit single "Die with a Smile" with Bruno Mars, and the rollout for her seventh album in 2025, beginning with the single "Disease."

Gaga first made her debut in a starring role in American Horror Story: Hotel, the fifth season of Ryan Murphy's anthology series, which earned her a Golden Globe win. She then starred in A Star is Born, earning her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress and a win for the song "Shallow," and House of Gucci. Everything the star touches turns to pop culture domination, so we can't wait to see what Mother Monster will bring to Wednesday season 2 and in what ways it will surely go viral.

The pop sensation joins a host of fellow newcomers to season 2, which includes Steve Buscemi, Thandiwe Newton, Billie Piper, Christopher Lloyd, Frances O'Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Joanna Lumley, and more. Likewise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, Victor Dorobantu, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo were promoted to series regulars.
