What is causing the drama behind the scenes in It Ends with Us? The film may have gotten mixed to positive reviews from the critics, but with the film streaming on Netflix, it is worth the time to watch. The drama between actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni explains the troubling chemistry with the leading cast.
Baldoni is currently suing the New York Times in a libel lawsuit. Lively has an active lawsuit against him over alleged sexual harassment on set. He is counter-suing Lively, including her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist for false allegations of sexual harassment.
This film is worth taking a look at regardless of the reviews from the critics. It explains how anybody can triumph over tragedy in a real-life setting of love. The process of love has its ups and downs, but this film clearly explains the problems in real life and the hurdles to overcoming pain and pleasure.
What is It Ends with Us about?
Lily Bloom (Lively) is a small business owner based out of Boston who falls in love with a neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni). At the beginning of the film, Lily learns of her father’s death, and she delivers a eulogy at the funeral in her native state of Maine.
For years, Lily had been living with flashbacks of memories of her father physically abusing her mother, something she had been living with traumatically. This includes a memory of physical altercations of her father beating up her ex-boyfriend, Atlas.
After opening her business, Lily meets a woman named Allysa, who not only becomes her employee, but her best friend. Lily and Ryle meet again at a birthday party where they start seeing each other. Ryle is interested in casual sex while Lily is interested in having a relationship. However, she ends up finding out Atlas is the head chef at a restaurant while on a date with Ryle. She hasn’t seen him in years.
Lily is caught up in a conflict between Ryle and Atlas as she relives the years and memories of her ex-boyfriend. Physical altercations happen, bringing back memories of how Lily’s father abused Atlas and her mother. She is caught up in a violent action with Ryle as her past comes to haunt her.
Now giving birth to her child, Lily cuts ties with Ryle in order to end the cycle of abuse in her family in order to escape her past. Her past abuse led her to make decisions based on what she experienced in her childhood.
Film reflections of the controversies
The chemistry of the cast clearly showed the troubles behind the scenes between Lively and Baldoni. Readers can only follow the facts, but it is a clear signal that the lawsuits explain what happened on-set.
While the drama goes on, the film shows how the trauma of abuse can be painful to reminisce for any member of the audience to relate to the film. Regardless of what happened behind the scenes, It Ends with Us gives the audience valuable lessons to understand problems with everyday life, including Lily’s childhood in Maine.
The conflict between Lively and Baldoni is only revealed by hearsay from both parties, but the film shows there were problems that couldn’t be explained during the film prior to being revealed. This wasn’t an easy film to make or act in for either of the actors to play their roles. The making of the film seemingly took a major toll on both of the leading actors.
