Heated Rivalry fans had probably resigned ourselves to the reality that we might not see Hudson Williams back on our screens until season 2 premieres next year, or whenever his Crave limited series Yaga debuts, but Netflix had a sneaky little trick up its sleeve all along.

As Williams previously revealed in a November 2025 interview and has since been formally announced by Netflix in March 2026, the breakout star will appear in the streamer's upcoming limited series The Altruists. While fans had been looking forward to more information about his role, Netflix finally revealed that he will be playing Duncan Rheingans-Yoo, a Harvard fencer and co-founder of crypto trading fund Modulo Capital.

Before he skyrocketed into superstardom with the November 2025 release of Heated Rivalry, Williams shared behind-the-scenes photos from the set of The Altruists, giving us a brief glimpse of his next character. But don't get too excited about the actor's screen time. Since he booked the role right after filming Heated Rivalry and before its release, he only appears in a minor role.

The Altruists was first announced by Netflix in May 2025 and began filming in July 2025, ultimately wrapping production by November of the same year. While Netflix hasn't confirmed that the series will release in 2026, based on the production timeline, it's an educated prediction that we could expect to see the series make its premiere this fall, about one year after production's wrap. (Well, we're at least hopeful that the Netflix limited series will drop before Heated Rivalry season 2 in spring 2027.)

Apart from the excitement that Hudson Williams' appearance in the show will bring, The Altruists has plenty more stars that will have audiences tuning in. For starters, Emmy Award-winning Ozark and Inventing Anna star Julia Garner leads the cast alongside Masters of the Air and House of Guinness star Anthony Boyle. The main cast also includes Eugene Young, Madison Hu, Karan Soni, Matt Rife Alex Lawther, and Naomi Okada.

The Altruists comes from Academy Award-winning writer Graham Moore, co-creator Jacqueline Hoyt, director James Ponsoldt, and executive producers Barack and Michelle Obama. Based on New York Magazine's reporting on a major cryptocurrency scandal, the series centers on Caroline Ellison (Garner) and Sam Bankman-Fried (Boyle), the creators of FTX, and their ill-fated hustle.

Netflix shared the official synopsis: "The series tells the story of Sam Bankman-Fried (Anthony Boyle) and Caroline Ellison (Julia Garner), two hyper-smart, ambitious young idealists who tried to remake the global financial system in the blink of an eye... before they were accused of stealing $8 billion."

Beyond the aforementioned cast members, the recurring cast also consists of Maddie Hasson, Marianna Phung, Paul Reiser, and Robin Weigert. In addition to Williams, other recently announced featured guest stars are Jennifer Grey, Terry Chen, Elizabeth Adams, Hannah Galway, and William Mapother. There are a lot of familiar faces to make these eight episodes an epic binge-watch!

Netflix will hopefully share further details about The Altruists in the coming months and indicate whether we can actually expect a release by the end of the year. If we were to bet, we're keeping our fingers crossed that a new Hudson Williams role will be on our screens this fall. Stay tuned for more news and updates on the highly anticipated new Netflix show.
