Heartstopper is special. If you haven't seen it but want to, you are in luck. There are three seasons, and all of them are on Netflix. You should feel free to check on them whenever you want. Again, you should.
The series explores LGBTQ themes, but like any elite show, does not limit itself to any one thing. The series is about relationships and how characters evolve. There is a lot of drama and a good amount of laughs, but the series never demeans anyone. It is about inclusion, as we all should be.
Here's fantastic news if you're a fan of the show. There isn't a new season forthcoming (at least not yet), but a movie is coming, according to Netflix. That will begin filming this summer, and hopefully be ready for release in 2026 (don't quote us on that; it's more of a hope).
What is the expected plot of the Heartstopper movie?
According to Tudum, Nick and Charlie begin to understand how complex a long-distance relationship might be. They are never going to be emotionally apart (if you've seen Season 3), but still... when you don't see someone for a long time, people can drift apart.
Nick is preparing to go to college while Charlie is beginning to find his way at his school. Had they stayed in the same area, things would be fine. But both characters begin to doubt whether the relationship can stand the test of the physical distance.
Is the creative team and cast the same for the Heartstopper film as they are for the series?
Mostly, yes. We don't yet know the entire cast, but we do know that Kit Connor will return as Nick and Joe Locke will return as Charlie. The secondary characters on the show are a big reason why the series is excellent, not just entertaining. Will Nick and Charlie's friendship group stay the same? We don't know.
Alice Oseman, whose webcomic and graphic novel served as the basis for the series, will write the film and also act as an executive producer. Locke and Connor are also part of the executive producer team. Wash Westmoreland is set to direct.
