Gone Girl hits Netflix in July

Gone Girl is officially coming to Netflix this summer! It's going to be a must-watch for fans of thrillers.

Netflix revealed Gone Girl starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike will be available to stream starting July 1, 2026.

The hit 2014 thriller is based on Gillian Flynn's novel of the same name. The film tells the story of Nick Dunne, played by Affleck, as he tries to put the pieces of the puzzle together to find his missing wife, Amy, played Pike. Because Amy is a pseudo-celebrity of sorts and Nick seems like the perfect suspect, Amy's disappearance becomes a major news story. She tries to stay one step ahead of the authorities and those trying to find her.

Neil Patrick Harris, Emily Ratajkowski, Carrie Coon, Kim Dickens, Tyler Perry, Casey Wilson, and Lola Kirke star alongside Pike and Affleck in the film.

Flynn also wrote the screenplay for the film while David Fincher directed. The film was a major success at the box office for a thriller and mystery. It grossed nearly $400 million. Looking back, Gone Girl probably should have been nominated for more than one Oscar. Pike was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress for her role in the film, but that was the only nomination for the hit thriller.

There's no doubt this is going to be one of the biggest movies added to Netflix next month. There's a 100% chance it takes the top spot on the Netflix Top 10 at some time in its first week on Netflix. This is not the first time Gone Girl has been available to stream on Netflix US, but it is the first time the film is hitting the streamer in a long time, so we know it's going to be popular. Thrillers like this always perform well on Netflix, and when you have one with huge stars like Affleck and Pike, you just know it's going to catch a lot of people's eye when they going looking for a new movie to watch.

If you've somehow not seen Gone Girl, I highly recommend watching the film when it is released on Netflix next month. It's such a good movie-night movie even though it's 12 years old now.

And, if you haven't read the book, I would also highly recommend reading Flynn's story. It's one of the best and most popular thrillers of the last 20 years, and it has the sales to back it up. According to a report from People, 20 million copies of Gone Girl have sold worldwide as of 2025. That's an incredible achievement.
