The Night Agent finally returns for season 3 on Thursday, Feb. 19, about one year after the events of season 2 after Peter (Gabriel Basso) and Rose (Lucianne Buchanan) thwarted a terror plot for the second time in as many seasons. There's no doubt this is the biggest Netflix new release of the month!
So, how is Peter holding up after making a difficult compromise and choosing to remain part of the Night Action program at the end of season 2?
"I think he's just sort of exhausted from dealing with the position that he was put into in season 2 and ultimately having to make these decisions that made him his father in a lot of ways and then losing Rose," Gabriel Basso told Netflix Life in an interview before The Night Agent season 3 premiere. "I think he's just tired."
And, can you blame him? Peter has been at the center of several political incidents with international ramifications for two full seasons. He's taken a beating physically and emotionally, and it doesn't sound like things are going to change in season 3.
Basso's answer makes a lot of sense, especially considering what happened in the second season of the hit Netflix original series. Peter and Rose finally reunite and stop Markus (Michael Malarkey) from causing a mass casualty event for Viktor Bala at the UN. Obviously, that mission took a lot out of Peter, physically. Remember, before that, Peter had gone off the grid because he feared the Night Action program had been infiltrated following the death of his partner, Alice (Brittany Snow), in Bangkok.

The Night Agent season 2 ending sets up season 3's story
On top of that, Peter made an agreement with Jacob Monroe (Louis Herthum) to steal a file that swings the US presidential election. He's officially part of Monroe's inner circle, and he's waiting for the next call to arrive from the power broker who gathers secrets to sell them to the highest bidder.
At the end of season 2, Peter is waiting for this next task from Monroe. When that call arrives, Peter, with the help of Catherine Weaver (Amanda Warren) and Night Action, are going to take down Monroe and his full operation.
So, that's where the third season likely begins, with Peter waiting for Monroe's call or working on taking down his organization and exposing his corruption from the inside.
Wherever season 3 begins, Peter will be on his own for the first time in a while without his partner, Rose. It's been confirmed, via Deadline, that Lucianne Buchanan, who starred as Rose in the first two seasons of The Night Agent, will not be back for season 3.
It appears, though, that Peter's story will be directly tied to what is happening at the White House in season. Fola Evans-Akingbola, who starred in season 1, returns as Secret Service Agent Chelsea Arrington in season 3.
We'll just have to wait and see where things go from here, but he good news is that we don't have to wait too long to find out what's next for Peter and his story. All 10 episodes of The Night Agent season 3 will be released on Thursday, Feb. 19, on Netflix!
