After becoming a new fan-favorite on Netflix, Finding Her Edge season 2 officially has a start date for filming, which gives us a better idea of when to expect Adriana back on the ice.

There's no doubt about it: 2026 has been the year of the romantic sports drama series. Between Heated Rivalry and Off Campus, we have become completely hooked on these hockey romance novels adapted into bingeable series, but they aren't the only titles that have stolen our hearts and taken up residence on our watch lists. Netflix got in on the sports romance fun, too.

In January 2026, Netflix debuted its romantic teen drama Finding Her Edge, which also has a sports flare to its narrative. Like the above titles, the series is also based on a popular book that readers couldn't get enough of on BookTok. Jennifer Iacopelli's book of the same name launched the latest hit Netflix show, which was quickly renewed for season 2. And now we have new details to share!

Finding Her Edge season 2 begins filming in September 2026

While Netflix renewed Finding Her Edge for season 2 back in February, we have been waiting for updates about when cameras would start rolling. Those updates have finally arrived! According to What's on Netflix, Finding Her Edge season 2 begins filming on Sept. 26, 2026 in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Production will wrap up before the holidays on Dec. 16, which teases the release window.

Because filming begins this fall and will continue through the remainder of the year, we can effectively count out a release for season 2 in 2026—not that we were expecting that to happen either way. After filming wraps, post-production will begin and last for a few months to prepare the episodes for release with editing, dubbing, and other movie magic that makes the show shine.

That being said, Finding Her Edge season 2 will be released on Netflix in 2027. We could hope for a release sometime in the first half of 2027, though we likely wouldn't see the follow-up season drop much before spring. The wait between seasons could be a bit longer than fans might have hoped, as Netflix could opt to release season 2 in summer 2027, if not a full year after filming began.

Expect a release date sometime in 2027

It wouldn't be a surprise if Netflix took advantage of the release of Heated Rivalry season 2, which is tentatively expected to occur on Crave and HBO Max in spring 2027, as a way to put a spotlight on the series once again. Even though they couldn't be more different (first and foremost their age rating), the incidental promotion of release proximity is undeniable in the social media age.

Finding Her Edge centers on the love triangle between ice skaters Adriana Russo (Madelyn Keys), Brayden Elliott (Cale Ambrozic), and Freddie O'Connell (Olly Atkins) as Adriana feels pulled between her new skating partner and her ex-boyfriend. The season 1 finale found Adriana making a bold decision in the face of victory, as does Brayden, but those choices lead right into season 2.

Iacopelli's follow-up novel On Thin Ice, a sequel to Finding Her Edge, will be released on Feb. 4, 2027 and likely inform some of the narrative of the show's second season. The book's release date gives fans plenty of time to read the book before season 2 drops on Netflix later the same year. Stay tuned for more news and updates as the production date rapidly approaches!
