It’s infuriating, absolutely maddening, when a show you actually care about isn't coming back. You’ve invested hours, maybe even days, obsessing over every twist, every character, every shocking cliffhanger, and then bam, you find out it won't be returning.
Fans of an underrated Netflix show that premiered earlier this year are now heartbroken after news broke today that it won’t be coming back for another season. However, we can’t say it comes as a total shock.
Too Much season 2 will not be happening at Netflix

According to Deadline, Too Much will not be returning with a second season on Netflix. This unfortunate news comes after series co-creator Lena Dunham spoke at a FYC panel last week, explaining that the show was always intended as a limited series. However, there might be more to the show not coming back than just its intended format.
Despite its critical acclaim and devoted fanbase, Too Much struggled to find a wide audience and failed to make a major impact on Netflix’s global top 10 charts. In its debut week, the series earned fewer than 2 million views and only cracked the top 10 in eight countries. While the series did manage to rank on the chart in its second week, it only reached the No. 10 spot. What's even worse is that after that brief appearance, Too Much disappeared from the charts entirely going forward.
That said, we could already tell then that the show was on shaky ground. Viewership means a lot to Netflix when deciding a show’s fate. So despite Dunham saying that Too Much was always meant to be a limited series, the show’s underwhelming performance in key viewership metrics likely sealed its fate.
As much as it hurts to say, we were pretty much waiting on the official cancellation announcement. While the show hasn't actually been canceled, its future is effectively over. Well, for now. Dunham hinted during her speech at the FYC panel that there's a possibility that she might revisit the series someday.
“Who knows – maybe there will be a time down the line when it feels right to check in on them again. But right now I’m pulling a Mary Poppins and heading on to the next (imaginary) family that needs me.”
Dunham co-created Too Much with her real-life husband Luis Ferber. The series stars Meg Stalter as Jessica, a career-focused woman in her mid-30s from New York who’s recovering from a heartbreak she didn’t expect. She moves to London, hoping for solitude and a quiet life. But her carefully structured plans are upended when she meets Felix (Will Sharpe), a struggling indie musician with whom she forms an unexpected and magnetic connection with.
Also in the cast are Dunham, Dean-Charles Chapman, Oliver Nirenberg, Rhea Perlman, Andrew Rannells, Emily Ratajkowski, Rita Wilson, and so many others.
