There’s nothing quite like the thrill of logging into Netflix and spotting something new or something long-awaited on the platform. When Netflix adds licensed shows, it’s like a little gift to your inner binge-watcher. Suddenly, your favorite series, the ones you’ve been missing or never got around to, are just a click away.
It's truly a moment of pure joy. This January, Netflix is about to do exactly that, as one of ABC’s most beloved comedies gets ready to land on the platform. This show has never streamed on Netflix before, so it’s a first-time opportunity for fans old and new to binge every episode that made it a must-watch series.
You're probably thinking to yourself, "What ABC show is it?" Well, we'll tell you now that it's not Abbott Elementary. However, we do hope that this iconic comedy sitcom comes to Netflix eventually. The ABC series that we're talking about is Black-ish.
Black-ish is scheduled to come to Netflix in January 2026

We promise that we're not joking around! Black-ish is really coming to Netflix this month. The streaming giant has shared this exciting information on the "New & Hot" section of its app. It states that "seasons" of Black-ish will be available on the platform on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, but the entire series is expected to drop on this date.
If this actually happens, you can expect all eight seasons of the comedy series to be released. That's 176 episodes filled with laughs and heartwarming family moments. However, we always make a point of mentioning the downsides of licensed content on Netflix. Since the streaming giant doesn't own Black-ish outright, its availability is tied to licensing agreements, which means the show will eventually leave the platform once the deal expires.
That's if Netflix doesn't extend the agreement. As of right now, it's unknown how long the streamer has streaming rights for Black-ish. That said, viewers should start binging the series as soon as it drops. It would be a huge bummer if you wait until the last minute and find out the show has already left the platform.
Created by Kenya Barris, Black-ish centers on advertising executive Dre Johnson as he juggles family life, career pressures, and the challenge of maintaining his family’s cultural identity in a mostly white, upper-middle-class neighborhood. Anthony Anderson stars as Dre, while Tracee Ellis Ross plays his wife, Rainbow.
Also in the cast are Yara Shahidi as their eldest daughter Zoey, Marcus Scribner as their son Junior, Miles Brown as Jack, Marsai Martin as Diane, Jenifer Lewis as Dre’s mother Ruby, and Laurence Fishburne as Dre’s father, Pops.
With Black-ish coming to Netflix, we hope the streaming giant will eventually acquire the streaming rights to the spinoffs Grown-ish and Mixed-ish for its platform. Don't worry! We'll come back and let you know if this ever happens. So, stay tuned to Netflix Life!
