Eric Dane's underrated action drama series sets Netflix comeback in June 2026

It's been 20 years since the world first met McSteamy on Grey's Anatomy and fell under Eric Dane's spell. The actor quickly became one of the integral members of the ABC medical drama's cast and made the bad boy character lovable over the course of his time on the show, and even when he played the ultimate villain in HBO's Euphoria, we were all blown away by his performance.

However, in between his roles on Grey's Anatomy and Euphoria, Dane led the cast of another hit series, though this one seemed to fly under the radar despite being on the air for five years. If you have been hoping to watch more of Dane's work, Netflix has answered the call. The actor's underrated TNT drama series The Last Ship is sailing onto the streamer in June.

The Last Ship seasons 1-5 coming to Netflix this summer

Unfortunately, The Last Ship has been mostly unavailable on a major streaming service in recent years, but that will change soon. All five seasons of the TNT action drama series will be added to Netflix in the United States on Monday, June 22, 2026. Our summer just got that much more action-packed thanks to a gripping, edge-of-your-seat binge-watch of a hidden gem.

The Last Ship premiered on TNT back on June 22, 2014, bringing the series to Netflix exactly 12 years after its debut. The series aired five seasons and a total of 56 episodes, officially coming to an end with its series finale in November 2018. Thankfully, before you being your binge-watch, you can rest assured that the series didn't end on a cliffhanger and wrapped up its story.

Based on William Brinkley's novel of the same name, The Last Ship takes place in the aftermath of global pandemic that took the lives of nearly the entire global population. However, over 200 members of the US Navy's missile destroyer ship USS Nathan James (DDG-151) haven't been touched by the pandemic and are the population's last hope to save humanity with a cure.

In addition to Dane, the main cast of The Last Ship also includes Rhona Mitra, Adam Baldwin, Charles Parnell, Travis Van Winkle, Marissa Neitling, Christina Elmore, Bridget Regan, Jodie Turner-Smith, and other stars throughout the five seasons. There were also a number of a familiar guest stars such as Alfre Woodard, Titus Welliver, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Dichen Lachman, and many more.

Following Dane's tragic death in February 2026 after his battle with ALS, The Last Ship coming to Netflix is an incredible way to honor the actor's talent and legacy.
