Emma Stone’s critically acclaimed 2023 fantasy film is back in the spotlight, with a new report suggesting it may be headed to Netflix in June 2026. While the streaming giant has not officially confirmed the release, the rumor alone has been enough to reignite interest in one of the most original and talked-about films of the decade.

The movie is none other than Poor Things, which tells a surreal, provocative, and visually daring story. Not only did this film receive widespread critical acclaim, but it also won multiple awards during its theatrical run.

According to What's on Netflix, Poor Things will land on Netflix on Sunday, June 7, 2026. But again, keep in mind that the streamer has not yet said anything about adding this movie to its platform soon. That said, we’ll just have to wait for an official confirmation from Netflix before treating this as a finalized streaming date.

Oscar-nominated filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos directed Poor Things from a script written by Tony McNamara (The Great). In addition, the fantasy comedy flick is based on the 1992 novel of the same name by Scottish writer Alasdair Gray. It stars Stone as Bella Baxter, a young woman who is brought back to life through an unconventional scientific experiment conducted by the eccentric Dr. Godwin Baxter, played by Willem Dafoe.

In a radical twist on the Frankenstein mythos, Bella is reanimated with the brain of an infant. This effectively gives her an adult body with a rapidly developing mind. Of course, this unusual premise then sets the stage for a coming-of-age story unlike anything traditional cinema typically offers.

Bella begins her existence with no understanding of societal norms, morality, or even basic human behavior. She must learn everything from scratch at an accelerated pace. As Bella becomes more self-aware, she eventually leaves the confined environment created by Dr. Baxter.

Her journey then takes her into the wider world, where she is accompanied by Duncan Wedderburn, a charismatic but deeply flawed lawyer played by Mark Ruffalo. Their relationship ultimately becomes the catalyst for a whirlwind journey across Europe.

Besides Stone, Dafoe, and Ruffalo, the Poor Things cast is also made up of Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott, Jerrod Carmichael, Kathryn Hunter, Suzy Bemba, Margaret Qualley, and many other talented actors.

It's been a while since Poor Things has been available to stream. It was previously streaming on Hulu before being removed. Since then, fans have only been able to watch the fantasy film by renting or purchasing it via digital platforms.

That could soon change, however, if the recent report about a possible Netflix release in June 2026 proves accurate. We're keeping our fingers crossed!
